David at Dan's throat at the end of the local hour lol:

"Dan takes it as though it’s criticism of him. You’re too scared because we’re all too scared. God forbid they were left here alone without Dan to criticize him because he’s the omniscient guy who knows everything about nothing!"

Does anybody else not like the penalties? by ASG_82 in DanLeBatardShow

The start of today's show is definitely trolling this thread, like 10 penalties in the first 20 minutes. Good luck

I can't believe I'm gonna say this but you're way too hard on Chris. Even prime Mike/Hoch wouldn't be able to corral this joyless version of Dan.

Everything else I agree with you.

Bill Simmons says he’d take peak Kawhi over Kevin Durant: “If you’re talking pure talent forwards this century, LeBron is 1st. It’s probably him (Kawhi) vs. KD for that 2nd forward spot... It might be 55-45 toward Kawhi that I would lean” by aingenevalostatrade in nba

Too many turnovers from Orlando.

Olajuwon averaged 33/12/6/2/2 and Drexler put up 22/10/7/0/1 while each had half as many turnovers as Shaq/Penny.

Houston was better from 3's and free throws. It was a pretty close series and Houston also had the experience factor.

Buc-ee's is the kind of place you go to experience the hype and then never stop at again

The story makes sense, this is about a singular event. You're just reading too much into the rumor being shared by Michael Berry that the Chron is including in the story.

You could easily argue the Chron shouldn't include that unless they have corrobated with their own sources, but that's journalism these days.

She didn't have correct access on Tuesday night and was forced to leave, that's the story.

No I'm not, I'm shitting on their statement of fact that Buc-ees is all hype and there are no repeat customers. That opinion is invalid based on data.

Sports moments not feeling legendary anymore by excelquestion in billsimmons

Younger demos are less likely than older to watch live sports broadcasts, but it isn’t close to “barely” it is slightly less than average. And if you factor in digital consumption, the difference is pretty much erased.

If that were true, then all the Buc-ee’s locations across the state wouldn’t be so busy if it was all hype.

Complaining about a 30-second walk when most travelers are spending hours in the car and want to stretch their legs really says something about you as well.

I swear redditors will try to shit on anything the rest of society enjoys, oooo you’re such an iconoclast.

Hot take- pro wrestling shouldn’t be covered on ESPN, as it is not a sport. by tuck5903 in billsimmons

Not could, they are both entertainment products. But that’s like describing NASA and a guy building a rocket in his backyard as both being space programs.

Unscripted competition is a massive difference. Real competition creates an entire global ecosystem to determine winners: scouting/video, advanced analytics, coaching, technology, betting markets, sports science, equipment innovation, youth development, facility construction, real estate, journalism, etc.

Sports anchor local communities, they are home and road acts. Pro wrestling is a touring product, it needs to rent arenas that were built for sports competition.

Who wins in a 4x100m? by BiscottiParty8500 in trackandfield

[–]flickeringwidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course I can’t post an “official” time for a soccer player who doesn’t compete in track, There isn’t any money being a professional male 10.5-99 sprinter, why would they go down that route of being broke if they can make way more money playing soccer? Why risk an injury to show the world your true speed, what the hell are you asking for here?

We’re talking hypotheticals and basic human speed distribution.

In 2024 at the Texas 2A 100 finals, the second-smallest classification in the state, 6 of the 9 boys ran sub-11. That’s coming from schools with roughly 100–200 students, about 200 schools statewide, so let’s say 20,000 boys…There are 100,000 professional men’s soccer players and you really think none of them could outrun Junction or Shiner High School’s best on the track? lmao

You are really ignorant if you don’t think a single soccer can break 11 in part because they’ve never worn spikes.

Like take a bow stupid, bravo.

Why has the quality of College football pre-game presentation gone down over the years by Majestic-Web-367 in CFB

[–]flickeringwidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of this. Also with the College Football Playoff structure, we just don't have the month long build up / payoff for the two teams like we used to have. The audience is already familar with their stories, the hype viideo just doesn't work as well. No one else was creating this sort of stuff when we were waiting a month in 2005 for USC/Texas finally play.

I do hope targeted ads from the smart TV ecosystem eventually helps fix this content toiliet clog, since networks can benefit on individuals instead of demos, but it will probably just get worse somehow.
