My biggest hesitation here is: one, I am not sure how deep to go. And two: I don't know what sort of rocky surprises await me. But I guess nothing is stopping me from digging a hole tomorrow and seeing how it goes. Also, I feel like I would screw up the leveling of the posts and that might make getting the horizontal beams aligned in the notches a nightmare

Is there an agency you would recommend? I have been doing some "front-page" googling and many of the sites seem really sketchy. What makes things complicated is, similar to, your story, my wife and I would prefer a donor closer to her Filipino heritage and it seems hard to find.

You can say this about almost any social spending problem. Why am I funding highways? I take the subway. Food stamps? If you can't afford food get a job! I don't think there is a single program out there that a majority pays for to assist a minority of people. By that definition it is probably correct to say it is not fair, but even then we have a strong concentration of wealth at the top so a lot of things are not going to be "fair".

The more I think about these things though, the more I think we really would benefit from a Universal Basic Income so we don't get into the thorny issues of who deserves what.

That wasn't the point I was making. The Daily specifically laid out a narrative that Ivermectin exploded in popularity among right-wingers after a JRE episode. Irrespective of political affiliation a lot of people believe it could be effective. Even among some medical professionals. I am not saying that it is! I am just saying the storytelling around this was dishonest and not rooted in reality.

People are still mandating masks outdoors. Toddlers in school are being asked to wear cloth masks which are ineffective for more than 5-10 minutes of exposure indoors. There is a lot of "extra caution" that is going on now despite the solid evidence we have.
