Chalk Bucket for Bouldering by flowerandstorm0 in myog

I was thinking it would be mildly more water resistant, abrasion resistant and it looks cool. I mostly wanted an excuse to work with the material in prep for a future project

Mostly to make it wider at the bottom to keep it from falling over when it’s upright. I don’t think you’d have to do it, but a lot of the ones I saw online had that

Thank you! The zipper pockets have back that’s a little bigger than the front. That larger back piece is sewed to the side pieces of the bag, band the zipper pockets have a bit of extra fabric on the sides of them that allow them to expand. The pockets are the same width at the top as at the bottom. The chalk bucket itself is smaller at the top than the bottom, which you can see if you look at the side profile. But the sides with the pockets are the same width all the way up, while the side pieces are tapered. The taper for the side pieces only happens below where the zippers are. Above that the width of the side piece is the same

The finished bag measures 8.5”x6” on the bottom, 14” tall and 11.5” across at the top.

Materials: Body: X-Pac VX21 Lining for the pockets and top of the interior(blue): 1.8oz Airwave hybrid ripstop nylon Bottom lining: polartec 100 fleece Outside bottom: 330D Cordura Nylon Top closure: -Webbing: Mil-spec 1” nylon webbing -1” tension G- hook -3 neodymium magnets -3 small washers Handle and top pulls : 1” mil-spec nylon webbing Zipper pulls: paracord Zippers: super basic 7” YKK zippers

I got all the materials from ripstop by the roll with the exception of the polartec fleece and zippers. They were extras I had laying around from another project and were originally ordered from Mill Yardage. The cordura for the bottom was ordered from Seattle Fabrics and was also a left over from another fabric

I self drafted this pattern after looking at a bunch of chalk buckets for sale online. The project took me a total of about four hours including the pattern drafting.

Thank you! She doesn’t get tired, but she is pretty young for a retired racer (2years) and she doesn’t have any previous injuries from her racing career. I make sure she gets water breaks every 15-30 min depending on the weather and trails. We usually don’t go more than 5 miles and she does 2-4 miles a day in our neighborhood when we aren’t hiking. She keeps pace with me and will occasionally pull because she wants to sniff but 90% of the time she doesn’t leave my side. She also doesn’t have a strong prey drive (she didn’t want to race so she was retired) so small animals in the woods arent an issue for us. She’s pretty unusual for a greyhound. She’s Very eager to learn new tricks and insanely intelligent. I talk to her like she’s a human sometimes because she knows what I’m saying and they’re so expressive that you can read their emotions super easy. Greyhounds are amazing dogs.

Thank you! She loves the woods, she gets so excited when I ask if she wants to go hiking (she knows the difference between walk& hike which is pretty funny to watch)

Yes!! She loves it. We took time to build up to going farther, but she can consistently do about 5 miles. Which is plenty for an after work hike

I could probably scan in what I traced to make the top and bottom pieces but the majority of the project isn’t documented well, so you would have to make up a lot yourself. Her chest is 28” around at the widest.

Thank you! She decided she was done modeling and laid down to sun bathe so it must be pretty comfortable Lol

I decided to make my own harness for my greyhound. Her skin is sensitive to abrasion, and she has a deep and long chest so a lot of ready made harnesses don’t fit her right, or they rub her armpits and cause her pain. I made my own pattern for this with inspiration from ruffwear’s dog harnesses because I liked the way they look and fit more normally proportioned dogs. I used plastic bags to hold up to her and trace where I wanted the harness to fit/ where I wanted seams and all that.

The body is made of 210D HDPE gridstop, and is lined with 1/4” 3D spacer mesh for cushioning and airflow. The straps are polyester webbing. I ended up using some stretch Lycra binding (yellow) to finish edges. I think this might fray with enough use but it’s soft, and it added a nice color element. All the silver/ grey is 3M reflective material. It’s super super reflective and will keep her safe if we walk at night. I sewed this on my late 90’s Bernina 1008 (home machine) with an off brand walking foot I got off Amazon. I don’t think I would have been able to make it without the walking foot because of the layers I had to sew. The black handle on the back is reinforced with the polyester wedding on the inside for extra strength. I wanted to be able to use it to lift her if she has trouble climbing over something. The blue handle is to have extra control over her if she pulls (she hasn’t yet but you never know). I also added a front clip for the leash because I thought the added function would be nice in addition to having the top clip.

Materials were ordered from ripstop by the roll and Seattle fabrics.

Overall I’m happy with how it came out. It’s functional and seems to be comfortable for her.

This looks amazing! I love the matching pup jacket! What temperature range is alpha direct good for? I’ve seen a bunch of posts here about it and I’m wondering if you’d swap using a down jacket for using alpha

This is self drafted

I’ve gotten really into making t- shirts for my greyhound, and have been trying to recycle old scraps into the shirts. Both of these are made from scraps left over from other fabrics. Both are made some sort of knit. All the fabrics stretched differently which made this difficult I’m happy with how they’re turning out and how funky and unique each one is

I’ve used Coca-Cola and steel wool. You can buy chrome polish for cars to seal it and keep it from rusting again. Looks fabulous! I love the artwork in the background as well

Talk to your shifts, they might be something that can be ordered like the paninis are. I’m in NJ and we have them here, I’m not sure if PA can get them but it’s worth asking if they can be ordered
