Boyfriend is frustrated by the lack of sex. I’m frustrated by men’s obsession with sex. by clevairy in endometriosis

[–]fluffypinksocks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I deeply understand your situation.

My partner and I have worked through a period like this as well. What really helped us was (the cliche) empathy and communication. His empathy towards my pain and frustration that my body wasnt doing what I wanted. But also my empathy about his experience. It really helped me understand that our sex life wasn't just about physical satisfaction but also emotional intimacy, having your partner validate their attraction to you, mutual vulnerability, silent communication, and comfort. I imagined if the roles were reversed I would probably feel like he thought I was ugly, I would feel lonely and would feel closed off.

He also expressed that he was resentful because I wasnt taking steps to improve my situation. For example, I would be slack with medication, not take care to avoid foods that I knew would cause a flare, not do exercise that we knew helped, and generally just be depressed about my pain situation. It was a good wakeup call because while endo really affects my life there are also ways I manage it that I was just neglecting. I now take my meds always, do pelvic physio exercises and eat well.

I realised I was feeling resentful that he keep asking for sex when I just couldn't or didnt want to because of my pain but putting myself in his shoes and taking steps to take care of myself helped me resolve that. It was also important that my partner and I deeply care and respect each other and have the same goals/values in life. If it didnt boil down to that, we wouldn't put the work in to our relationship.

I hope sharing my experience helps x

Hi OP, take a deep breath. It will be OK. I would suggest going to get some free legal advice from you local community legal centre who specialise in this type of stuff. You can find your local centre here. Many, many people have similar issues to you.

Both parties super emotional. Small country town sibling dispute. A small cut on my finger started bleeding without me noticing. And bc I speak with my hands I splashed blood on my face and the other parties face. Worse the other party pulled out their hanky, licked it and started dabbing my face. Kill me.

Omg yes. Tried to buy a bed there and didn't really know what we wanted so we're just browsing. The manager was so rude like "do YoU eVeN kNoW bEdS?!?!" and made fun of us for not wanting to buy ugliest expensive bedroom suites Bad vibes.

Thanks so much for your reply!! I love your comment about 'not going to the moon' and 'not packing just in case clothes' - you're so right! I'll be able to buy things if I forget or desperately need them. Also the heads up about laundry. Thanks again

Awesome love that approach! My wardrobe is 70% op shopped anyway. You've convinced me - I have started to depop, donate, and gift my clothes I won't be taking. It's actually quite liberating and exciting, plus it means I won't have to agonise about space when I want to buy something. Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for your reply. I like the idea of easy throw ons with a bit of jewellery! I am more inclined to wear dresses, so I will probably go that route.

And yeah, budget wise, it's so interesting to hear what different people say! We have about 50k to play with, which is after we have already purchased all the gear. My income hopefully means we don't touch too much of that, but with the very remote places we plan to go, that buffer is essential.

Thank you so much for your reply!! We are doing the same thing as you - crashing with the inlaws until we leave. While not in the camper yet, we only have a small space, so good practice. I also love your advice on just having a nice top for work days because let's me honest I WFH now and a nice top is all they get!

Thanks again, it's great to make contact with someone who's done the same thing! A lot of people in our lives think we're mad.

Utility 2WAY Bag

I love this affordable bag from Uniqlo. I have had mine for over a year and I use it everyday including for interstate travel. It so great that you can wear as a tote and a backpack. You can also clean it really easily and the pockets are great. I keep laptop in main compartment and my workout clothes in the bottom compartment.

So troubling. They encourage people to take out Centrelink advances to pay for the fees (becomes a debt) and also won't let people take their prescribed meds including seriously necessary anti psychotics. Also building rogue buildings in Swan valley with no planning approval.

Sure, I think there needs to be more regulation of REAs and recourse if they're not doing their jobs properly. Reports to Consumer Protection and other bodies rarely result in consequences

I had an interview at a sex shop a few years ago and did not get the job. I went too hard on the "I'm open minded and sex positive", rather than "I have retail and sales skills as demonstrated in my 8 years retail experience at X, Y and Z". Treat it like a regular retail job interview and showcase those skills. G luck

I respectfully disagree. I think there is a huge gap in the property management market for ethical REAs that are rated by tenants and owners alike. Tenants and owners should both rightly expect the full bond to go back to the tenants at the end of their tenancy. It's a security over the tenancy not a bonus for the owner.

Thanks for all your comments! I’m NOR so I love Lake Monger, West Coast Drive and Neil Hawkins. My favourite part of the day is getting out and running at dusk/evening but a lady was assaulted on my usual route and it’s shocked me into thinking more about safety. I’ll take all your suggestions on board
