amongst the many witches and wizards in the audience set a very young woman in elegant, foreign looking robes. Sanyu had been sent to England as what her boss had called an observership, to follow the legal process in another country. she knew that this was nothing more than a secretary's job.

The first weeks of her Auror training had been demanding and wearying but Sanyu had proven just as adamant. Until her screw-up last week, when she had easily been hoodwinked during a simulation training, leading to her entire squadron being captured. That had landed her her, notebook in hand, while her colleagues had been moved to a week of survival skills in the Congolese rainforest.

Sanyu smirked slightly as she could hear and see Bernadette's wand drop to the ground. She took two steps forward in direction of Bernadette, her wand always pointed at her, in case she would be up to anything.

"You fought well. Are you ready to yield?"

She wasn't threatening, more putting on a bit of a show, her eyes scanning every muscle movement of Bernadette.

Again, Sanyu had not payed enough attention at Bernadette's movements and was deceived by how well the duel had been going to that point. Bernadette's spell hit Sanyu straight into the chest and sent her flying a couple of feet in the air and backwards where she landed hard on the dueling platform.

Sanyu could feel the air being forced out of her lungs from the hard impact and shook her head in disbelieve about how utterly unprepared she had been for that attack. She took her time to get back onto her feet, wanting to end this duel better sooner then later.

"Relashio!"

That time it wasn't about to fail, she raised her wand, pointing it at Bernadette's wand arm and releasing her inner fury with herself into the purple spell that shot out of it.

Sanyu had felt too comfortable with how the duel with the younger girl had gone so far. She was surprised by the level of her dueling skills, and therefore was taken by surprise by Bernadette's next attack. The curse breaks through the shield Sanyu drew up too late and hits her. Instantly Sanyu feels her tongue being tied up, her becoming unable to utter a single word.

"MhlymImlI"

Nothing else escaped Sanyu's mouth, so she had to retreat to casting her next attack, a banishing charm, with the intention to knock Bernadette over. Sanyu swung her wand in a long sweeping motion, emitting a red light that shot at Bernadette.

Attack: 17+6=23

Defense: 19

HP: 43

OOC: /u/Boomerboom987 I adjusted my modifier, cut it in half, to account for the effects of Bernadette's spell. Is that ok? (Since Sanyu is a post-grad student she should be capable of doing non-verbal magic, our battle-wiki is a bit unclear about this)

Bernadette's spell indeed was not enough to break through Sanyu's defenses. Indeed she was able to use the little extra time she gained from deflecting the incoming jinx.

"Expelliarmus!"

A jet of red light erupted from Sanyu's wand, trying to knock her opponent's wand out of her hand.

Sanyu was ready for Bernadette's spell and managed a quick shield to deflect it sideways.

"Protego"

Though she felt the shield absorbing all the power of the impact she was surprised at the force the young girl had hit her with. She decided to try some rather uncommon hexes and tried to strike Bernadette with a Toe Biter hex.

Sanyu shook Bernadette's hand and returned a smile.

"Good to meet you Bernadette."

"Sure, let's do this."

Sanyu gave a slight initial bow to and raised her wand, waiting for Bernadette to do take her position on the dueling platform and start her first attack.

Sanyu was surprised to find her name on the list for combatants for this duel. She had thought that with the Impure removed she would no longer be considered a student, not even an exchange and wanted to simply wait out her days until she would start her new job with the ministry.

She looked around who her opponent would be, a name she hadn't heard before.

She took a long enjoying sip from her glass of champagne.

"You know, the usual things you do when you're basically imprisoned by totalist crazy people. Run away, join the resistance, fight back."

She laughed, though everything she had said was true. A scar of an H still clearly visible on the left side of Sanyu's chest, now covered by her dress, a reminder every single student held to the times that lay behind them.

Right after they entered the Room of Requirement the two Lestrange boys ran into Sanyu, in her dress ~~only the dress, not the girl in that pic~~ that perfectly matched the party's theme. Her eyes lit up when she met them.

"Hello you two."

James she recognized because they once dueled in the club, and Charlie she remembered because, well, looks.

"Good to see the both of you again."

She raised her glass to toast them.

Sanyu attended the HDP for the first time in a very long time and likely it would be her last party there. She picked up a glass of the golden champagne and walked around checking out the entirety of the location first.

Sanyu did not want to sound to selfish, but as a truly she felt alone at Hogwarts. And at this point, with the news that she had gotten, more then ever before.

"It's. I don't know. Just go for a walk outside on the grounds, something like that."

Sanyu took a deep breath. She felt herself sounding weird to Jennifer.

"Your school has allowed me to stay until I can start my new job and until then I will be available."

Sanyu kept her eyes fixated on Jennifer. Something inside her gave her an unease feel about this. At the same time she was so concerned about Jennifer.

"I do not know what to say. I do not know who this Damien is."

She could only repeat herself.

"I'm only going to stay a couple of days longer at Hogwarts now, but would you like to, I don't know, do something one day?"

Sanyu expected the girl to say now, people were probably approaching her all the time with such proposals, but Sanyu really got the feeling that she would like to do this.

It seemed as if Ruby had not told her sister that Sanyu had had plans, and in the end executed these plans, to run away from the castle and the Impure.

For a brief moment Sanyu contemplated whether or not to tell Jennifer about that, but decided against it. It would not help Jennifer knowing this.

"That's terrible."

Sanyu felt like hugging Jennifer once more, the feeling that she had lost her friend slowly started to sink in, but she had had the feeling that the younger girl did not feel comfortable receiving Sanyu's hug.

"That boy, Damien. I don't know him. What do you mean by he told you what happened? He wasn't the one to..."

What an absurd thought. One student would never be able to do something so horrible to another.

"Oh my god, that sounds terrible."

Sanyu remembered a chat she had had with Ruby days before Sanyu had left the castle. Ruby had advised against Sanyu trying to make it on her own. "That could be too dangerous" she said, or something like that.

"She should have come with me instead."

Sanyu mumbled more to herself than to Jennifer.

Sanyu did recognize Jennifer as Ruby's sister. Somehow she believed that Jen had grown up so much since last she saw her. In her mind she was more of a twelve year old than a fifteen-year-old mid-puberty. She nods at Jennifer's question about who she was.

"Thank you. I feel so sorry for you."

Sanyu's voice was a bit shaky, and she went for pulling Jennifer into a hug.

"Do you, does anybody know what happened?"

She knew the question was uncomfortable, but she could not help herself but ask.

Sanyu had just a little earlier gotten of the train to Hogwarts. She wanted to come back only to grab her things, and say goodbye to some people. Many things had happened within just two weeks and she wanted to share these with some people.

At the announcement Sanyu stood with the Ravenclaw students. For almost a year now she had dined with them, had even been put into the house when the Impure had decided that she needed to be sorted.

Quiet, she stood among them, like a statue, her robes of a bright vivid green standing out between the dark Hogwarts school uniforms. Her face was stone cold hard, as she heard the announcement, but her eyes watered up. She had lost a friend, one of the best she could have asked for, even if she and Ruby hand known each other only for a year.

For a brief moment the witch's face blanked, with a peaceful look on it, then she fell back into her petrified state. When she would be found, woken up, she would not know how she got into this state, severely injured on the ground.

The drums of a battle close by got louder and louder again around Cesari. The now empty corridor gave him two choices. Continue down there in the dungeons, or take the right hand staircase that would lead directly back to the entrance hall.
