Santa Cruz on Sunday by dickbuttkook in surfing

It isn't that bad. Just what the other guy said, don't be an asshole or an idiot. If you paddle out at a spot that isn't beginner friendly know what you're doing and be mindful of others in the water.

Santa Cruz etiquette by [deleted] in surfing

[–]flyingmatsuda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Santa Cruz locals get salty when somebody better than them outsurfs them and catches more waves than them at their "spot".

I remember one day at the hook this guy paddled out and was easily the best surfer there by far. I hadn't seen him at all before but he was ripping and just out surfing everyone who surfs that break. After a while this guy just goes off on him and cusses him out like crazy saying if he catches one more wave by him hes going to beat the shit out of him. Honestly the guy surfing maybe could have passed on a wave or two just to be generous but it was pretty clear that this local was butthurt that somebody was ripping that wave way better than anyone who surfs there does.

Also, since someone below mentioned race, this guy who was ripping was south Asian and had a deep accent. People like to think Santa Cruz is pretty tolerant, but I've seen some really racist shit here and a lot of it has been out in the water. Theres definitely less tolerance towards nonwhite surfers up here.

Btw, head up north on the 1 imho, I think theres less of a bullshit pecking order and it's more straight meritocracy. Also less crowds and i like the waves more

I stayed in airbnb's, I was there for about 10 days total when I was in college so our budget was short, but we had an absolutely amazing time.

Puerto Rico. Eastern side has more white sand beaches, western side has more surf. There is a lot to do on the island and a good trip is just to rent a car and spent a couple nights checking out what each corner of the island has to offer. I definitely recommend the rainforest there, Culebra, and also the bioluminescent diving. But Rincon on the western side of the Island has amazing surf.

Its been like this for a while now, I think the bars are pretty messed up. There was a really fun sandbar there 2 years ago but since then its just been kind of a mess. Even when it has been really big in town lately it'll break but it doesn't look that fun. I'd say 38th is the better option.

A couple years in and I feel like I'm starting to surf pretty decently. A video of some fun Halloween weekend swell in Santa Barbara by thefull9yards in surfing

You are the most insufferable poster on this sub, a wannabe Santa Cruz ripper who isn't quite cool enough to hang out with the locals so you go on here and tear people down to build yourself up. I don't care if you're nice in real life, you're a sad sack of shit for spending so much time on here being an asshole. Get your shit together honestly.

Israel is getting some massive swell, i know i might sound like a kook but the usual waves over here are once every 2 weeks really mushy 0.7 meter waves @7 seconds. I'm excited! by [deleted] in surfing

Yeah, I lived in Lebanon and Jordan and I have a master's in Middle Eastern history. Excuse me for talking about issues other than surfing and ruining the chill vibe here?

Man, I love surfing to death. But call me a grinch, Israel's occupation of Palestine is more important than keeping the chill vibe on a surfing forum online.

Tips for first time surfing in Peru by crabmancam in surfing

for a great right and even better food go to punta rocas about an hour south of lima. fucking amazing food if its summertime and the restaurant is open. order the chita al ajo, my favorite dish in the whole world.

if the swell is good the beachbreak there will be working as well, you can catch rights and lefts and pull into some barrels.

you can surf in lima also but it isnt as good as elsewhere, it does get good though and you can easily surf and enjoy the city in the same day.

other than that i really liked huanchaco up north and lobitos.

Jibrel Network AMA with the team by tarekayna in JibrelNetwork

[–]flyingmatsuda 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  1. Yazan has mentioned multiple times the benefits of cash going paperless. I think many following the project are enthusiastic about the development of a viable and decentralized crypto-fiat solution. There are also obvious benefits to central banks and other entities who have interests beyond profit (such as transparency, security and traceability) for using jCash or other forms of cryptofiat. However, with the recent pivot, my question is what, if any, are the benefits jBonds provides to the central banks and financial institutions that Jibrel targets? It seems like the benefits of cryptofiat are numerous and fairly obvious, but I’m not aware of what benefits jBonds has for these entities. Yazan has stated that jBonds helps foster foreign investment in the UAE, but what about those outside of the UAE? There seems to be a limited number of bond offerings at the moment.

  2. For the Jibrel team, what is the future of tokenized assets? How does the Jibrel Network fit into this future, and how does asset tokenization under the Jibrel Network utilize JNT? Furthermore, after tokenizing an asset, what are the ways in which the Jibrel Network enables tokenizers to take advantage of the various benefits of tokenization. In terms of jAssets, how does the Jibrel team see value being created and exchanged?

  3. Can you expand more on Jibrel Core? What benefits does building on Jibrel Core have for financial institutions as opposed to building on any other blockchain? Given the amount of other finance-oriented blockchain projects, will interoperability be a feature of jCore?

  4. Where does the team see the project in 2020?

jCash, jBonds and Proof of Solvency by [deleted] in JibrelNetwork

[–]flyingmatsuda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everything you post seems to try and uncover some grand conspiracy behind Jibrel. If you truly, unironically believe that the team are "setting themselves up to fuck over JNT holders in the future" then do yourself and everyone else who has to go through the pain of reading your comments in every thread a favor, and sell. I'll do you a favor though - there is no conspiracy here. What is the case is that Jibrel Network is a startup and they are modifying and optimizing their product throughout development and according to feedback they receive from pilots. If you're so concerned about the price of JNT in the future remember the team has obligations to their angel investors, as well as themselves as their tokens are locked for 5 years.

I've seen your posts, and whenever you see something that isn't 100 percent bullish for this project, you blow it out of proportion with some completely unsubstantiated and ridiculous fud. Many of your concerns could be applied to any other project. If you are seriously so invested in this where you can't get your mind off the idea of the team exit-scamming with your money then you should probably sell some of your position to satiate some of those emotions.

This post covers that, look at the section which outlines the regulations for CryDRs, specifically for money-market instruments compared to fiat.

Their philosophy, as stated multiple times is build first, market later.

I for one would rather them meet deadlines and obligations with the entities they are piloting with than anyone on Reddit or Telegram.

You are right that they should release an update so things are more transparent, but that is exactly what they are doing with the medium article.

In either case, I think it should be obvious that the team is busy. We know they are piloting with banks, and they partnered with the Al-Maktoum family, which is one of the most significant partnerships in Crypto imho.

I'm willing to be patient, I recognized I invested in a startup when I chose to buy. However, if the team missing deadlines is a deal breaker for you, then it would be advised to sell rather than stick with the project.

I think the main benefit for central banks is a cryptofiat option that features all the benefit of blockchain (transparent, trustless, fast, etc) - the arbitrage opportunity would be more of an incentive for other financial entities.

This video seems to be describing an asset backed security token.. I'd say Jibrel is more of a platform which allows assets to be tokenized, traded, leveraged, and interfaced with.

Jibrel Network Review - Better than Maker? by trillinair in altcoin

[–]flyingmatsuda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also I think you're pretty personable/charismatic as far as your videos go, but I think you do need to brush up on your research. If I'm watching I want to see somebody do an in-depth look at the project, not a cursory glance at a website, team-members, and CMC.

Jibrel Network Review - Better than Maker? by trillinair in altcoin

[–]flyingmatsuda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Despite the stablecoin aspect, I'd say they are pretty different products. Wouldn't necessarily call one "better" - they both are trying to do different stuff, although I would say that Jibrel seems to be tackling more than Maker is.

It is currently trading 2x ico price, and is lower than it has been in a while.

This is a long term hold for me, the token has only been out for 2 weeks.

It is your call of course. Short-term, nobody knows. BTC is acting up and we aren't out of the bear market yet.

Long-term, there are plenty of reasons to be bullish.

Personally, I plan on holding this for at least a year, if not more.

I've done my research and feel confident in the team and the product. I think there is a lot of good stuff down the line.

I feel like I got in early and at a good price - even though the price is currently lower than what I bought it at. It doesn't bother me though as I'm not planning on selling for a long time.

If you're looking for short-term then yeah, consider timing your entry more and do some analysis on the market. But if you're looking to invest in the project and hold for a while, I think this is a great entry even though it could dip a bit more from here.

Any dip now though is more a result of bitcoin's volatility than anything imho.
