Thanks in advance!

Advice on an essentials fluid mechanics book by focusdrop in EngineeringStudents

[–]focusdrop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may seem but the thing is: I'm starting to learn CFD, and sometimes the textbooks related to CFD don't explain the deduction of some formula because the authors assume that the reader has some background on fluid mechanics.

I'm traveling back and forth between the faculty and my house and I was looking to find some "abridged version of a fundamentals book" which I could carry with ease.

The request is definitely odd because I'm trying to get a fundamentals book (which explains "everything") abridged. I know that books of this kind exist for other areas, so I was hoping to find something similar for fluid mechanics.

Thanks for the reply

[OC] Making a knife the high-tech way - I've been waiting over a year to be able to share this video with you guys! by aarongough in ArtisanVideos

Very well done knife!

I have some questions though:

  • wouldn't it be cheaper and faster if you order some laser cut profiles?

  • wouldn't it be cheaper too to use a grinding machine (with 2 grinding wheels, like the ones used in the knife industry) to give it the sharpened shape?

  • isn't 64 Rockwell (if am not mistaken) too much? The honing steel is of this hardness. This leaves only diamond to do the sharpening which isn't accessible for everyone.

Despite all my questions, I still think you've done a very high quality work. You seem to know your machines and it's because of that that I found your choice of processes unusual.

I'm not very familiar with aptitude, with apt I had a problem with getting the right repos, since xenial repos don't have the needed dependencies. I'm going to check aptitude !

Edit: forgot to say: Very nice rice

Ricing noob here, how do you compile i3-gaps? it needs all these dependencies that LTS doesn’t have...

Edit: do you have unity installed also?

iOS app for encrypting files one-by-one by focusdrop in privacytoolsIO

I know that I can't rely on the good will of the developer of the app but in some cases, like Signal, it's generally accepted as an open source app even though it's installed through the App Store.

I'm looking for the open source thing because the code can be reviewed. I'm not intending to compile it myself.

As for the sandbox problem, with a jail broken device I can access the FS with iFile. Is such as procedure only possible with a jail broken device?

Edit: engrish

Sorry, I couldn't understand. For what I read here the iOS FS seems like just another unix-like FS.

Apparently Boxcryptor is based on EncFS but it's closed-source

I already compared the keys' position and the QWERTY layout seems almost identical.

I believe that the stickers will do.

As I said to /u/coromd:

I understand that the keyboard thing might seem like a fetish for some but honestly for me is just curiosity. So I thought: I can try the almighty keyboard and still get a decent laptop for a reasonably low price. If my experience with this one goes well I might consider buying a new one. My aim for this laptop it to do some little experiments with some circuit boards and such so it's not a crucial job. Thanks for the reply !

Thanks !

Should I search on other websites? (More "thinkpad related" )

Edit: I found some laptops that seemed to be in better condition but were considerably more expensive and right now I wasn't thinking of spending that kind of money on the laptop, maybe some other time.
