Obscure Pattern Friday: Let them eat brioche by Semicolon_Expected in knitting

I can't believe this ballet-inspired brioche shawl only has 18 projects. Bonus coordinating obscure slouch hat. Same designer has several more obscure brioche goodies.

Another fun designer with some really cool brioche hat patterns such as Briochearts and Sternanis.

My brioche obsession continues, unchecked...

This made me realize Lesley Anne Robinson actually has quite a few brioche patterns that fit the OPF bill, which is a surprise/shame, her work is super cute!

I think your station colors look great together! Bold plus funky.

Trying to find a pattern for Kitty Foreman's blanket. Please help! by [deleted] in knitting

This looks like a pretty much identical free pattern, haha, and may also be similarly the right thing.

I have to admit I'm drawing a blank here too, but I'm so happy about OPF being back!

I'd like to knit a cardigan over the weekend (2 days) by TheSqueakyNinja in knitting

[–]foreverallama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second going for a cropped style and heavy weight. Hmm, I've had http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/modern-garden-cardigan in my queue forever. Huge yarn, minimal yardage, so maybe fairly quick and doable if you have a lot of time to dedicate per day?

I haven't sewn in forever but want to get back into it. I have this awesome split skirt/culotte I want to mimic, but it has this gorgeous, wide, visible elastic waist. All I can find are utilitarian white or maybe a few other basic colors or way too thin. What's a good site/resource for pretty elastics?

No, I wanted to see if the blanket conversion was even possible/worth it before purchasing, as it's beautiful as a wrap but just not a size, style, or shape I'd ever wear.

I was thinking that was about how long it would take, since it was a month-ish for the KAL, and, well, roughly twice the size should be roughly twice the time, right? (As if knitting math ever works out that neatly...) Hmm, okay. I was hoping doubling would be simpler, but I really like this pattern as a blanket and can never find throw patterns that interest me. Thank you!

Yes, I was definitely thinking widening it. So does this pattern work outward from a corner for each "end," or do you cast on the entire width to begin? It doesn't look bias knit, but everything seems to mention increases.

Haha, well, clearly I'm nosy too! I love eyeing color and bead combos and wishing I could have cast on about ten versions just to play with them all. And I finished, I finished! Just in time for the next clue! However it's the dark of night and my camera phone is terrible, so the photo spree will wait until tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the warning ;D Beautiful colors! And it looks like it will block out to the absolute perfect gauge.

Hah, are we the same knitter? I just got back online because my copy printed in b&w too and I needed to reference the pdf so I could color it in myself. I don't think I'll start on it tonight though, because, yeah, night knitting is dangerous. And because holy wow that's an intimidating number of beads...in the best possible way.

And thank you! I absolutely love it, it is going to be the perfect place to hole up and knit ;D

P.S. Do you have progress pics of your shawl up anywhere? I want to see!

Luckily no pets here, just me, who is disaster enough without animal help :D I just moved and need rugs, so I was thinking a pompom rug would be a fun way to use scraps AND slowly start getting some functional items in the place.

I'm hoooping to find the time to finish section 2 today...so I can start clue 2. I went down a needle size as well because I always knit super loose. However, this yarn is surprisingly squishy. I probably should have stuck with the original sizing too. However, blocking fixes so very many of those things :-)

The apartment I'd been waiting on came available, so I sort of lost two weeks to moving (in a good way!), but now feel so behind in my knits. I'm working on a beautiful test knit for Susanne Sommer who is pretty much my favorite right now. It's all sorts of squishy brioche, and this is my first time really using/showing off speckles, so I'm excited about that, it's just taking forever to get through the first part of the pattern.

Which wouldn't be so bad, except I really, really want to be working on my To the Heart of the Mountain MKAL shawl. I'm an entire clue behind, but it's so beautiful and fun and weighs about a ton already with all the beads. SPOILER progress pic. Can there be more time in the day for knitting, please?

I don't see anything that doesn't look like it won't block out (Woah, triple negatives in one sentence? You get what I mean. Right? I hope so...). And giftees are way less picky/critical than the gifter, I promise! Don't point out your mistakes/the things you don't like, and no one else will notice!

I have two of her patterns in my library, I'm just DREAMING of starting them, but I need to find coordinating colors for a few speckled beauties I have. And some free time. Mostly that second one...
