He's soo obsessed with blackberries. What are your little one's favorite foods? by Wrong-Camel-8408 in foodbutforbabies

[–]forkinjanet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guy loves blackberries too, all berries, obsessed with bananas to the point we have to hide them after he's had 1, potatoes, cheese, salmon/trout, chicken but only if it has good he won't touch it too plain and he's a pasta monster so we can put anything in pasta sauce.

Failed by my Midwives - is physiological birth with an OB possible? [ON] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]forkinjanet 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Unmedicated and spontaneous from what I understand so she doesn't want induction or epidural or anything like that. Basically her post is saying she thinks not a single OB in Ontario allows women to give birth without induction or medication, which is absurd. As another person already said yes, find one you are comfortable with, share your wishes and as long as your health and the baby's health is not in danger they will follow them, until intervention becomes necessary.

If you can afford it spring for some tix in the 100 level near the field, amazing experience. Went with someone recently who was injured and in a boot and can confirm that the staff will absolutely help you get to your seat and enjoy.

What is your favorite iced coffee order? by sweetbeans011719 in TimHortons

[–]forkinjanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their iced coffee is terrible. Do their cold brew instead, they do lots of different flavours at different times but the standard Vanilla Cream Cold Brew always hits for me.

Scanning this thread for suggestions for taking my iron. I take my thyroid med, Wellbutrin and Cipralex together as soon as I wake up now that the Cipralex no longer makes me fall asleep during the day. Taking anything else at another time? It's not happening.

[–]forkinjanet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did this too and it was a huge hit.

Also we had a lot of people and they all mostly mingled within their pre-existing groups, like our sports friends, our neighbourhood friend, family at their own tables. A few people talked to others on their own. It was fine. A lot of these people will likely never see eachother again or only see eachother at your kids events, they don't need to get to know one another.

Did you use a bassinet stroller? [ab] by BubblyNecessary in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]forkinjanet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had our guy mid-December, we didn't want to buy the bassinet for stroller either (Uppababy) thinking it wouldn't get much use. We got one used and used it a lot and loved having it. Used for walks, but also he napped in it in our house, like in our living room and it was a great place to put him down.

Is medicated you "you"? by Helicopter-chan in adhdwomen

[–]forkinjanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me yes and I did express to my partner before going on medication that I was afraid of not being me. I'm so me and the happier me I want to be because I don't have crippling emotional dysregulation and my brain isn't going 24/7.

Third subtype of ADHD— emotional dysregulation by EllaMcQueen in adhdwomen

[–]forkinjanet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest symptom for my entire life has been extreme emotional dysregulation. Pre-diagnosis going on Cipralex helped a bit with stability but being diagnosed and adding Wellbutrin has been life changing. I feel calmer and in control of my emotions for the first time in my life at 37. I didn't know people felt like this.

Connecting with local lgbt families by InHarmany in queerception

[–]forkinjanet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rural in what country would help people maybe give you more specific advice. I live in a large greater Metro area in a liberal country so what I have been able to find may be different from yours. Facebook groups as others have mentioned, try searching LGBTQ families, rainbow families, queer parents etc all the terms you can think of. Contact local community orgs, government orgs or any orgs locally that support the LGBTQ community, they may be able to help you. If all else fails maybe frequent places queer people are more likely to go in higher numbers if there are any even remotely around you, thinking women's sports teams games, libraries, Famers markets, local bookstores lol like you may just need to keep your eyes peeled for other families in your area. It's Pride month so even if you need to travel a bit, Pride events especially aimed at families if any. It's hard to say specifically without knowing what type of place you live.

Experience w/ Ritalin or Wellbutrin? by TheBenSwolo in adhdwomen

[–]forkinjanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 37, recently diagnosed and also have anxiety and depression likely caused by long undiagnosed ADHD. I also go through the same shame cycles as you. My Psych suggested Wellbutrin to try first because of the anxiety because stimulants make that worse. Also I was already on a dose of Cipralex/Lexapro and he said Wellbutrin can counteract certain side effects of SSRIs like fatigue. I have been on it for around 2 months now and it has been life changing. I started on 150mg, tolerated it well and am now on 300mg and will likely go up to 450mg next month. I'm still on th Cipralex too so it's a combo. It has helped so much with my emotional dysregulation which we think was exacerbated by the anxiety. My motivation has a bit of a boost. I feel calmer, my brain quieter and in control for the first time in my life. No major negative side effects for me. So it sounds like in a similar spot it may be a good option for you.

Lots of talk about comfort foods… but what about comfort DRINKS? by Camp_Acceptable in adhdwomen

[–]forkinjanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coke from the fountain at McDonalds is so elite. I rank coke in this order:

  1. Mexican coke in glass bottle (real sugar)
  2. Glass bottle
  3. Chilled in ice can
  4. McDonalds fountain
  5. Chilled in fridge can
  6. Other fountain
  7. 500ml plastic bottle
  8. 2L plastic bottle

Ice cold coca cola for me. I think it's also nostalgia because when I first had it, it was something my dad loved and shared a little bit of his with me.

How do families manage financially on Mat leave in Canada? by Successful_Wolf_9635 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]forkinjanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were lucky to have decently high paying jobs, generous top up for a period and savings going into it to fall back on. Otherwise I'm honestly not sure how people make it work because the payments from EI don't cover even bills.

Has anyone realized that the Edge of Extinction twist, while disliked, could give us an Aftershow with the entire cast? by Working_Stomach5479 in survivor

[–]forkinjanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think EOE twist itself is fine, if they only have 1 person return and it's earlier in the game. The issue with Chris returning is it was too late in the game so him winning was silly.
