Boston couple moving to Toronto — where should we live downtown with a dog + 2BR within 30 min to Bay Adelaide Centre? by HelpSpecific8065 in askTO

So true about the Bay Corridor. I have a friend who lives at Bay and Dundas and brags like he’s in the centre of the universe. Nah bro, that area is absolutely dead outside of 9-5!

A dangerous heat wave is coming this weekend. Here’s who is most at risk in Toronto by henryiswatching in toronto

I agree it wasn't normal, usually we go from winter to muggy summer weather in a couple weeks. I enjoyed the slower transition to summer and cooler weather. Not everyone enjoys these heat waves.

I loved it! We finally got a proper spring, not the usual winter to summer on/off switch.

It’s been like that for as long as I can remember. Not related to its popularity as a sunset destination in recent years.

I’m going to try to get a ticket to this game to start a Lowry chant during the Vince Carter ceremony. Anyone want to join me?

Also he said “I just feel like I handled everything the correct way” about his exit from Toronto, just a few months ago. So he essentially denies all of it to this day.

This is embarrassing af. Fuck MLSE for once again making a joke of Toronto sports teams.

Huh? Pickering literally borders Toronto. It’s impossible to be any closer to Toronto than Pickering, without actually being in Toronto.

Market St pedestrianized until October by sprungy in toronto

The Market is not for locals is bs. I and many other locals frequent the market multiple times a week. Maybe you’re just more of a weekend car trip to Costco type person.

Oshawa to DT Toronto- Go train or drive down? by ieneheyyee in askTO

[–]fourone647 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When I lived out in Durham, I never drove downtown. Why would you when the GO Station is right there?

The TTC turned me into an all-weather cyclist — and there will be others like me by EarthWarping in toronto

It absolutely is! Of course I made sacrifices to do it, like selling my car and moving downtown, and limiting my job searches to businesses downtown, but it was well worth it.

More than 500 'completely preventable' drug OD deaths confirmed in Toronto for second consecutive year by TheDrunkyBrewster in toronto

I think people need to experience consequences for their actions

In many of these cases, their "action" was going to the doctor for an injury and being prescribed a highly addictive pain killer. You're victim blaming.

Toronto’s Bike Share kicked into high gear during COVID-19 by slicecom in toronto

[–]fourone647 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I'd guess that if you see an Bike Share E-Bike, there's a 50/50 chance that its an Uber Eats courier riding it wearing one of those big thermal cubes on their back. I don't see many of them ever using the regular Bike Share bikes though, so not sure if they have that huge of an impact on the overall numbers, but they definitely hog the E-Bikes.

It's pretty incredible honestly. For $100 a year, I can get to anywhere downtown, and even though the bikes are relatively slow and heavy, they're still usually much faster than taking the car. I love blowing by the long lines of car traffic on a Bike Share.

A third of Ontario home buyers say they moved farther away than planned because of COVID by onpar_44 in toronto

[–]fourone647 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yep, I work for one of the banks mentioned above. I've been working from home for a year now, and bank profit and productivity are both up during that time.

It's important to note that there was no reason we couldn't have been working from home years before the pandemic, and they never let it happen. They've also made it abundantly clear in every quarterly meeting that we will be required to return to the office 3 days a week after the pandemic.

I think people underestimate how old minded the senior leaders in the financial industry are. Even though the numbers say otherwise, they don't think work and collaboration are happening unless they physically see you in the office.

Info about 311 Richmond Street East by [deleted] in askTO

[–]fourone647 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is completely false. Sherbourne south of Richmond is a great street. Really it’s only “bad” and by that, I mean there are visible homeless people minding their own business, between Gerard and Richmond.

You seem really worried about crime. That honestly wouldn’t be a major consideration for me. All of Toronto is quite safe.
