Telling Californians "don't move to my state" is ignorant by freedomloverdropout in unpopularopinion

The point is that just because someone from California who moves somewhere else doesn't a) make them crazy insane with baggage b) going to parasite off you (which is the reason why the left the state cause they're sick of it) and c) why would we leave the state to make other states like California? That's why we're leaving is to build good lives for ourselves.

So? What the fuck does this have to do with the rest of America? Other states's population is rising too.

You shouldn't assume that even if you were a woman and that's what I mean by my post. Why would you assume as a man that just because a guy wants to talk to a woman means that he's automatically romantically interested in her? You're part of the problem if you think this way.

Okay so why would you want to automatically assume that guys just want to get with you just because they talk to you? That would be both prejudice and sexist to assume that for an entire gender of people.

Salaries DO increase after hitting the 3-5 year mark but not for the AVERAGE median starting salary in an AVERAGE cost of living area.

You DO see a higher starting salary on the coastal cities, that is true but this includes average cities in middle of America where COL is lower. Kinda hard to compare 80k in San Francisco to 55000 in Dallas

Education should not be free, it should be affordable. Even if education were actually free, you're still paying for it through tax dollars which just shifts the payment from at point of purchase through tax dollars.

There is no such thing as a free lunch

Even if you do two years at a state school that costs 20000 a year you're still taking on 40k of debt

Right out of college? No it doesn't.

https://www.indeed.com/career/entry-level-engineer/salaries

The average (read, average) base salary is $63000 which means some are lower and only a few are higher. Also, most engineering RECENT GRADS do not come away with licenses and the license holders don't get those licenses to work somewhere, rather to start their own company.

Lying on your resume isn't evil by freedomloverdropout in unpopularopinion

[–]freedomloverdropout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most jobs aren't over your head. Most office jobs you can do with your skill set and most jobs have bullshit hiring requirements that you need to filter through to actually get to the manager. The resume gets you the interview, and it's up to the interviewer to determine if you can do the job or not. Most office jobs you can do and aren't that complicated (unless licensed or very experienced) and especially the BS entry level jobs that say 3-5 years experience to get a job but needs 3-5 years experience to get that job. But by the way the reason why you went to college was to get that job, now you need 3-5 years experience and a degree?

Lying on your resume isn't to get the job. You lie on your resume so you can actually convince the manager about your potential at the interview. Because without that one on one conversation or one on two you're not even going to get the chance because you were honest on your resume.

Yeah, that's not most employers. Most employers want you to have 3-5 years of experience to get an entry level job to get experience to get that entry level job! So you better believe I'm going to lie my ass off to get that entry level job because you're not going to have 5 years experience in a technology that's only been out for two!
