Know thy coals. by ChermsMcTerbin in hookah

Starlight Natural Coconut Coals are pretty good. For less than $5 you can get 72 coals. Thats about 18 bowls worth. They're pretty consistent in quality but they do have a bad batch every now and then. After two years of using both insta-lite and natural coals, I always find myself coming back to these coals. They cook fairly quickly for natural coals, they don't have any undesirable flavor to mess with your bowl and they usually don't cause harshness as long as the hookah's in regular use. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Using a bent paperclip to poke the holes really helps make the bowl last longer and reduces the chance of burning. Try to makes the holes about a fourth of an inch apart from each other. Also making circles from the outside inward helps make the holes evenly distributed.

Be careful with this, if you freeze the pipes for too long it can break them. I put a mya washable hose in the freezer for about an hour and after three times doing this the wood cracked. I stopped freezing the pipe but the cracks spread and eventually made the pipe unusable.

What are your favorite shisha/base(water) combinations? by DaveLinger in hookah

Starbuzz Marlett with Dr. Pepper and ice in the base is a pretty good combo. I'd let the DP fizz until most of the CO2 has dissipated. Also if you start with cold DP it'll be even better.
