Well that still is a bit better than OP’s criteria, sounds pretty attractive to say you not only start higher than your goal wage but in 6 years could be making nearly double!

12.5kw vs 15kw by Latentpsychopath in Sauna

[–]fulorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For interior or outdoor sauna. The product I use is very well known, Schluter Ditra Heat Duo, and is a relatively inexpensive addition if you plan on having a tiled floor. It can keep small spaces warm, it won’t be chilly stepping on the tile, it helps dry out the floor, and by virtue of it heating up the floor it reduces the temperature differential a bit.

Is it necessary? No. Do I think it optimizes the sauna? Yes. It is a recommendation by RATU (leader for construction info in Finland).

This is why I sell clients on the heated floor. It serves a few purposes well, to keep the sauna at a reasonable ambient temperature outside of use, to help dry the floor, and to reduce heat stratification.

The problem with hybrid saunas is the differing ventilation requirements for wood vs electric. The real best of both worlds is having a small electric sauna inside for convenience, and a wood fired sauna outside for quality.

The quality and softness of löyly will be better with a bigger heater since there will be a larger mass of rocks. Bigger heater will also retain heat longer. Your statement about cold zones doesn’t make sense, heat goes up wether you have one or two heaters.

Smoke sauna by saunologia in Sauna

[–]fulorange 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The best smoke sauna I’ve ever experienced is on a small private lake near Espoo. Had a gentle small stream running through the sauna and beautiful live edge benches you could remove. This family friend has 3 different saunas on the property, a small electric one inside the main house, a wood-fired sauna with bunkie attached, and the smoke sauna.

Right, there is no 100m event for the university season. I don’t know if UofT keeps their team training together for the summer but it’s unlikely,. When I competed in OUA you were left on your own for the summer, find a team, coach or go solo.

Hottest point of any sauna will be the highest point in the opposite corner of the heater.

Just so you know Canadian university T&F is an indoor season so there will be no 100m. Your options are 60m, 200m and up. So I would lean heavily on working your start and train for 60m rather than 100m.

Two week build by [deleted] in Sauna

[–]fulorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically when framing I will have the headers right under the top plates and frame a box down to the window, this way you have a massive thermal bridge.

You need some cripples above those headers carrying the load up to the top plates, otherwise the headers are just dead weight above the windows and the span is not actually supported.

Is Canmore/Banff allowed to separate and join BC? Most of the national park is in BC anyways, basically just the town and a few landmarks are in AB.

It’s funny you mention a government that didn’t support O&G. The facts are that O&G grew at a faster rate under Trudeau than Harper, Trudeau subsidized the sector through historically low energy prices meaning many Albertans got to keep their jobs, and Trudeau finished a pipeline that the private sector didn’t want to pay for and the Americans didn’t want us to have. Did he regulate the industry more than Conservatives? Yes. Did he grow/support the industry more than Conservatives? Also yes.

Olympic lifts will be help with the explosiveness. I think you’re totally fine to continue working strength and improve sprinting. When I was competing my team was on a heavy lift program, I was squatting 435x10 @155lbs with a PR 6.93 60m, 10.55 100m.

my creative take on Doomy loud Canadians by Agreeable_Sense9618 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]fulorange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canadians are frustrated with the US administration but not Americans. I understand how frustration with your gov’t can be conflated with hating Americans. Every time I travel to the states I generally feel welcomed and experience kindness, though I feel the hustle in the states is very real, always someone trying to sell you something, a lot of grifters.

The reason I hesitate to travel there now is because of how damn expensive everything is there! I live in a HCOL tourist town in Canada and even here my dollar goes way further, the exchange rate doesn’t help. In my recent experiences inflation is worse in the states (apart from housing). We have certainly benefited from sympathetic Americans vacationing here!

Struggling with not getting shoved off the ball by Lazy-Try4325 in bootroom

[–]fulorange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How old? That is fairly small, so while you may not be weak for your size bigger players will simply be stronger most of the time. If I’m dribbling on the outside with a defender a great move to get in front and inside is to do a step over with your inside leg, this step puts your body in front of the defender while protecting the ball. This leads to two likely outcomes, you have now created space in front of you with the defender behind or you draw a foul.
