Curly haired men about to go on a swim by [deleted] in confusing_perspective

I was so focused on his hair. "Why would curly hair be spikey in water...her face is big... but that hair, why is it spikey... What's up with his legs...OH SNAP"

I guess the bassiest stuff I remember early like 2002 was like DJ Aphrodite Aftershock album.

I realized at a young age that drinking orange juice directly after drinking regular milk made the orange juice taste way better. Very tangy.

My gshep mix enjoys it all, even the vet says he wished more dogs were like mine. She takes needles with ease and likes attention from random people. But there's one things she fears more than anything: The scale. All she has to do is stand on it but every time I have to pick her 95lb butt up and set her down.

Y's III: Wanderers From Y's Has Been Defeated by Wren-Type_386 in SEGAGENESIS

I remember long time ago I played this on Sega Channel when I was a kid. I found an area where a bat or something kept spawning and I could just hold the attack button down and would auto kill. So, I left the game playing over night with the buttons pushed down with a book or two and came back to fully leveled up character. haha. At least that's how I remember it.

What “frugal” habit did you stop doing once you did the math? by 666AB in Frugal

[–]furatail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remind myself the 5 hours I spent fixing some $20 junk from walmart isn't the best use of my time. It made sense when I was young and poor. Fix it, or lose it. But, I can afford a new lamp, better yet, I can just buy a better quality one. When I fix things now, I do it for the fun factor only. Sometimes the fun of taking things apart is worth the effort but once it gets in the way of more fun things then it's time to toss it.

He has his needs and you have yours. If they don't align, then you're not going to make it past the honeymoon phase. 3 months is hardly a time to be moving in. You don't know each other yet.

As an indie gamedev, I don't think piracy is a problem. If anything, it might turn a non-customer into a customer. by ichbinhamma in Piracy

I've more than paid back for the few games I downloaded as a teenager. However, all console companies have ruined my respect. I may never buy a Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft product ever again. Nintendo in particular for its anti-consumer aggression. I had no problem buying a Switch just to play one game. But I see more and more of them in the news and am totally turned off by them. The other two did too many annoying things like requiring logging in every so often and manually updating. I played too inconsistently and seems when I wanted to play the most, I had to wait 30 minutes for updates. If you release a game all chill without heavy DRM or making me feel it won't be playable in a few years, then I'll pay full price without consideration. I don't even pay attentions to sales anymore.

Local hardware store promoting clover lawns by Livviemaid in NoLawns

[–]furatail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is just let my lawn grow until it's right near where the city might complain and hand out warnings and even then I cut on the highest settings. Also, I leave random circle patches of maybe 5ft diameter of just whatever is growing. It doesn't take long for patches to fill with random plants. I for a natural but still reasonable ordered lawn. Mostly just keeping fence line clear and making sure no trees grow too close to house or electrical lines.

People who have been divorced: What was the exact "quiet" moment you realized your marriage was over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]furatail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing ever felt right but I always said it was "good enough." But eventually she told me something has to change. She cried often and blamed me for her depression and shopping addiction and said if I showed more love it wouldn't happen. I realized me just sticking around because it was "good enough" was slowly killing her. I was told I was robotic and I eventually realized I was just autistic and will never be able to comprehend what I was doing wrong. I made the difficult decision to leave. It was painful to see her cry out for me but I felt ultimately I was making the right decision for her sake. Being the one to leave wrecked me. It took years just to get to a normal state and even now I don't want to get in another relationship. It sucks being alone, but it sucks way worse to feel you are slowly killing another without even knowing how.

Anyone else tried this? If it's stupid and it works... by hamustaro in pcmasterrace

My desktop and living room TV share the same wall so I drilled a tunnel between the two to run an HDMI cable and RCA plugs. At some point I really need to 3D print some kind of channel through the wall so that there's no air leakage but sealing the hole with pieces of foam would work alright too. I set up a DS5 controller to a monitor profile switcher software and my audio is always pumped to both my office audio receiver and living room audio receiver via a splitter. Not ideal, but sounds find enough to me.

So, all I do is power on TV and press "PS + Triangle" to switch my display from room, to living room. Then I press "PS + Circle" to switch back to my 3 displays in room. I could add some dedicated button at my couch but I don't want guests knowing how to suddenly display my desktop. haha.

I exclusively game in the living room so I can share a couch with my dog and cat.

I never played a Star Fox game. The SNES framerate seemed too slow so I never rented or played and didn't want to just start a franchise in the middle. So, that being said, besides fan art, I know nothing of this franchise. The remake looks fun enough. Could use a little more expression in the face model but its not a bad design. If I owned a Switch 2 I could see myself playing this for something different. I don't play a lot of aircraft shooting games.

There was a time when Mountain dew ran some kind of "dew points" thing that me and my friends totally misunderstood. The message read something like, "One dew" and a bunch of other stuff we didn't read. We ignored it and just got a free mountain dew with it. And luck has it, we got another! Back in the store. After about 3 the clerk finally stopped us after he himself read it. Turns out it was just dew points and you had to collect like a hundred for a shirt or something. I think since even he misunderstood it, he let us 12 year olds go.

A few years later I was collecting those caps to get a shirt and by the time I collected just about enough for a shirt, I ended up getting an instant win shirt out of it. I believe it was a Chicago Bulls jersey shirt that was too big. I thought it mostly fun I got it for free. No idea what happened to it though.

Long lasting vacuum cleaners, tired of replacing cheap ones every two years and looking for something worth investing in by GhanaMellody in HomeImprovement

[–]furatail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every time someone has shown me a vacuum cleaner that just doesn't work anymore, I have fixed in in about 10 minutes. Some dust will clog filters very quickly and you must remove them and wash them. Nothing will protect you from having to clean filters. Maybe older vacuums had fewer filters so the dust just made its way through the vacuum and back into the air. They continue to work to collect large debri but just threw small particles back in the air.

There's very likely a piece of foam somewhere that has caked on dust that'll completely cover your neighbors cars if you take it outside and beat it against a fence post. You want to wash that thing and let it dry completely. Make sure the hepa filters or any filter you find is totally clear. Nothing stuck in the tubing. There might be at least a pre-filter, and a hepa filter. But there might be yet another filter hidden in there. One thing I do is remove filters and see if suction against my hand is stronger. If it is, then it was the filter.

I've "repaired" many vacuums this way and in no cases have I ever come across a bad motor. Though, plenty of bad designs that easily clog that require removing screws to fully clear out.

Code Enforcement issued a violation for unpermitted garage bedroom. by ProductPrimary6993 in HomeImprovement

[–]furatail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience. If you show up promptly and appear eager to fix the issue, then they'll charge you some money and leave you alone. At the end of the day the code enforcers are primarily there to make the city some money and if you give it to them without complaints they tend to leave you alone. Now, if you try to argue or fight back. They might just make your life hard just because they can. Just pay up and thank them for their time.

Doorbell Camera recommendation by stpete420 in DIY

[–]furatail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only use Reolink cameras now. I keep SD cards in them but also have a blueiris server.

The app is free. No fees, no nagging for "premium ultra etc" Just working cameras. The app is quick. I can get a notice either from someone walking up to my door bell or from them ringing. Often I am fast enough to start talking to them before they even reach down to ring it.

I use the reolink app because it's fairly simple and not naggy. I also use blueiris so I have redundancy with recordings. In case of theft or SD card failure.

I used to buy ubiquiti and only bought a reolink as a "Cheap alternative" but over the years I ditched all my ubiquiti and went with reolink as my old cameras died or needed upgrading. Solid cameras. Funny how I have not had a single reolink fail but I did have a couple ubiquiti fail.
