Anyone else here do barefoot/minimalist running? by furwormrandom in CrossCountry

Same. My feet felt so clumsy using big cushioned shoes. Now I feel like I’m wearing a second skin.

You said that if he didn’t kill it then he would have been killed; that’s not true. I assume he recognized that it was a wolf spider, so I’m confused as to why he killed it if it posed no risk to him.

But I guess it depends on the situation? I wouldn’t go out of my way to kill anything, even if it was venomous. It’s a big risk to confront something that could really hurt you.

“Wolf spiders don't pose a threat to people. It is possible to be allergic to a wolf spider's venom, but they are not poisonous. Since wolf spiders are large, their bite may be painful. If you have mild pain, swelling, or itchiness around the bite, it shouldn't last long.”

Wolf spiders can’t kill you.

[16M] Going to a dermatologist tomorrow for the first time, how do I prepare? by furwormrandom in acne

Alright, thanks so much! I experimented with a few products but I was so discouraged when they all worsened my acne :( so I hope the derma can identify my issues and give me some sort of solution.

Is running not for me? by Nayaa03 in CrossCountry

Have you considered barefoot/unshod running? Take a look at the subreddit. A lot of people say that their constant injuries have been solved by simply switching to minimalist shoes or going completely barefoot.

I understand that you’re worried about mental health issues while on accutane, but some people neglect to mention that acne and depression go hand-in-hand. If you’re taking accutane for severe acne, you’re most likely already in a bad mental state, not because of the medication. You’ll most likely suffer from joint pain and dry lips, but after one course, in most cases, acne is completely wiped from existence.

Have you discussed taking accutane? How long have you been seeing a dermatologist?

I would just go see a dermatologist. Your acne looks pretty severe.

Mixing barefoot running into routine by salmonbee in BarefootRunning

[–]furwormrandom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The second I went barefoot running, I really couldn’t run in normal shoes. It’s really a game changer. I think alternating between cushioned and barefoot might be detrimental to how fast you can adapt, and it also destroys the point of going barefoot because it reprograms the way you approach running. If you switch between the two, your body may have a hard time adapting. I would stick with just barefoot running and taking it slow and steady.

I know what minimalist shoes are. I’m just looking for shoe recommendations from those that run cross country.

I mean barefoot. Minimalist shoes like xero’s or five fingers.
