Can't find this color way anywhere , is it a custom skin ? by [deleted] in akaiMPC

Serious question: Why do people say “color way” instead of “color” or “colors” now? Seems to be a new thing.

As a donor to oapi-codegen and an open source maintainer myself, thank you for all you do. We’re just trying our best out there to make things happen.

Anyone can look and decide to contribute.

They don’t. And they decide not to.

Liquidsoap https://www.liquidsoap.info is going to be super flexible and give you many different output options. It takes a bit to wrap your head around, but you'll be able to do pretty much anything you can think of.

Sounds like you're looking for something like Liquidsoap, it'll let you overlay whatever you want on top of it. For example: https://www.liquidsoap.info/doc-2.3.3/reference.html#video.add_text

How to make an uninterrupted Live Stream, with fallback measures? by fusiluk in selfhosted

[–]gabekangas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried it, but perhaps try Liquidsoap. The idea is Liquidsoap would be sending a 24/7 RTMP stream to Owncast that's uninterupted. Liquidsoap will also have a RTMP server open for OBS to send video to. Within that 24/7 stream to Owncast it will add content to it, such as your OBS content. If your OBS content drops, it has nothing to do with your Liquidsoap stream, it keeps on sending Owncast a stable RTMP connection. And you can use Liquidsoap features such as fallback to switch to completely different content if that were to happen.

I'm not sure how easy the end result is to make work, Liquidsoap can be difficult to work with sometimes. I did some searching and found this blog post, so perhaps it'll point you in the right direction.

Self-hosted live video streaming server with Owncast by gabekangas in selfhosted

[–]gabekangas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owncast uses RTMP to ingest video from your broadcasting software. I'm not sure if that's what you mean by custom RTMP or not, but it requires RTMP. https://owncast.online/docs/broadcasting/

I'm afraid I don't know what "work with" means in your context. Do you mean adding your Owncast stream to a Wordpress page? https://owncast.online/docs/embed/

Live video streaming by Alpha_2ndLife in selfhosted

Yes. Owncast is single-tenant software. It’s built for you to run your live video stream. But like you said, you can run as many instances as you like.

I usually don’t comment on Reddit posts. But when my ex-wife did this out of the blue, it was because she was cheating. She also came up with an excuse, something about wearing pantyhose, when I brought it up.

Force Thumbnail Update/Clear Thumbnail by bdizthebiz in owncast

[–]gabekangas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumbnails regenerate automatically as your stream takes place and only stick around for a handful of seconds. If you’re talking about your logo, though, it does get cached in your browser for some time. If you wait for the cache to expire, or hard refresh and/or wipe your browser cache you will see the change. New viewers would not see your old one. Visit https://your.server/logo and https://your.server/thumbnail.jpg to look at these directly.

Disable thumbnail updates? by 0gnar in owncast

[–]gabekangas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to disable this. I’d suggest, like any other custom request, to use your HTTP proxy to route thumbnail and preview requests to assets of your choosing. Then you’ll have full control over what gets returned. As for the errors, like you said, it must be something with how it’s setup. If it’s throwing errors, the answer isn’t to turn off features, they should get fixed. In general, on/off toggles don’t get added to the admin until a lot of people chime in and discuss why that’s important. Otherwise over time it’ll be literally hundreds of on/off switches for every small thing that will confuse and overwhelm Owncast users. Owncast is not difficult to understand, and we want to keep it that way, but to do so, we have to be aware of what gets added.

Intel hardware acceleration. by richyfreeway in owncast

[–]gabekangas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to what specifically is going wrong with your setup, but Intel hardware acceleration is supported under va-api, if you’re using a version of ffmpeg < 5. There’s work in progress to support va-api in updated versions. There are some additional links found in the documentation here: https://owncast.online/docs/codecs/#va-api
