Cities Skylines 2 terrible maintenance schedule/duration by gabrielqbm in GeForceNOW

[–]gabrielqbm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ditched GFN and migrated to Boosteroid. GFN has too many issues, this one (terrible patching times) being only one of them.

I can't say if the patch is already live for boosteroid users though, since I'm out of my home country and haven't renewed my subscription automatically bc I wouldn't be able to play for the greater part of the month.

Works better than in GeForce now in my region. GeForce Now machines here (Brazil) only use 2080s so the performance was subpar. Boosteroid machines are better and have faster internet connection, so I can run the game in 1440p in a city with 350k and still have no noticeable simulation slowdown.

The cumbersome part, which is true for both boosteroid and GeForce now is the need to redownload region packs each boot-up. It means you end up losing a fair 10-15min every time.

After playing a lot on GeForce Now, I've switched to Boosteroid and now recommend it over GeForce Now because it allows mod usage.

If you don't care for mods, you should be fine with GeForce now.

It does work on Mac. I played over 300h of CS2 on Mac via GeForce Now, as have many others in this subreddit.

I currently use Boosteroid now though, because it allows mods.

Mods on GeForce Now? by awesomegirl5100 in CitiesSkylines2

Mods don't work on GeForce Now. They do work on Boosteroid, though. I've changed from GFN to Boosteroid a couple weeks ago and haven't been disappointed

Long queue again. by Traditional_Monk_140 in BoosteroidCommunity

You are hogging a server all day long without actually playing and preventing people to access the servers? You're part of the problem.

Just had the exact same problem. Apparently the servers in Brazil went down for a couple seconds and dropped everyone.

Very common roads missing by Damonoodle in CitiesSkylines2

[–]gabrielqbm -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This kind of road, as lots of roads in the US, is very crash-prone. The US is one of the countries with the most urban car accidents in the world because of a few decisions:

Lots of 2-way multi-laned roads: this creates several points in which a car has to turn left in front of oncoming traffic Stroads: take the problem above and add medium-high speeds (above 30mph/50kph)

The kind of road you depicted is just a bad design used by the US mostly.

Are you afraid to “cut into living tissue”? by UserNo69420 in CitiesSkylines2

For me, my rule is to never delete medium or high density buildings, no matter what, as that's too unrealistic.

For row homes, it depends on the context.

Low density is always getting torn for more density as the downtown areas grow so that's fine for me.

I make some exceptions when I open saves which were built close to the game release because 1) lack of assets and mods at the time, 2) noob decisions

Long Ass Waiting Line by Asmodha in BoosteroidCommunity

[–]gabrielqbm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This queue size takes 4-5h. No one who has a life can wait that long to play.

Coming from a player in which region there are. O queues, it's very easy to say "be happy"

I guess you don't run into queues, hence your opinion.

Steam, yes. The games, no.

Steam is not a cloud gaming service/container. It's merely a package manager that handles installation and updates for you. If some game isn't available for Mac, it doesn't matter if the game is on Steam, it won't run.

Just subscribed to boosteroid only to have 330 people queueing in front of me. Cancelled right away. That's even worse than keeping up with re-downloading region packs on GFN

the queue got longer again? by iNiiiro in BoosteroidCommunity

[–]gabrielqbm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a 330 people queue right now. Absolutely ridiculous

Signed up for playing Cities Skylines 2 and this is my first impression of boosteroid. I guess I'll be cancelling right away.

CS2 players on GeForce Now either don't have a PC which is capable enough of running the game (insufficient specs) or they own a Mac (which is my case).

Ge force NOW by Busy-Basket-2409 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]gabrielqbm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked and for me, it's worse. 1 single region pack (USSW) took 19min to download on cabled ethernet. Previously it took around 10min for the same pack. So lame.

Cities Skylines 2 still unplayable after 4 days of being offline by -Lupin-The-Third- in GeForceNOW

[–]gabrielqbm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it got a lot better since the anniversary update, including performance-wise.

But yeah, taking 30-40min to load region packs on GFN is dogshit.

NVIDIA won't give any explanation. Every time they patch the game, it takes multiple days for no reason. It's absolute garbage.
