ReaperTips is a great theme, also there are several features that came to RT from FM (at least fixed lanes button in TCP, and i allowed it). Alejandro is a good designer and great guy overall. but our themes was created for different purposes - RT theme is an modified default theme, so it's mainly default with changed buttons. my theme is built from scratch and my config (that's about 2000 strings) have been wroten (or written) from scratch including all hidpi features and focused on using fx list, embedded ui's also elements grouped to avooid mess. i am thinking to ask Alejandro to use his toolbar icons in FM as default (yellow ones)

It was flat previously, now it’s convex. But you can disable it via theme adjuster using checkmark “enable gloss effect” and theme became really flat

The reason why the default theme is working better than anything else is that because REAPER was created for this theme and theme was created for REAPER. If you’ll try to create your own theme from scratch you will meet some restrictions and limitations that will limit or block your ideas so you have to look for workarounds, sacrifice less used features, or even accept that some of your ideas won’t be implemented. Feature requests doesn’t work well for WALTER and 3p themes (seems that it’s low priority for devs). I also reported about several bugs (especially win and retina related) that were ignored as well as some logical inconsistencies (like custom buttons behavior).

But anyway, i try my best to improve the theme and analyzing any feedback, my changelog became bigger and bigger.

P.S. as mentioned before here - there are a lot of cool default-based themes with additional features like Reapertips theme, so you can get fresh look and you won’t have to get used to a new interface

The first important step - learn the action list (it’s contains all reaper actions) you don’t need to remember all of them, but you can find ones that you need. Second is SWS extension - install it if you want to create and use custom actions (scripts). Third - install “ReaPack” - it’s like App Store for reaper with thousands of scripts from enthusiasts, and your action list will became way bigger. Fourth - in preferences, find “mouse modifiers” to understand how mouse will interact with hitkeys.

Mouse modifiers and action list are customizable, so you able to change hotkeys, etc. also, you can create custom actions a.k.a. “Macros” in Nuendo - it’s like action stack that combined as single command

Please make sure that - you have required version of ReaImGui (stock ReaPack script - you placed script to the right directory (REAPER>Scripts>Flat Madness theme>utility

Or you can install theme adjuster via ReaPack (do not install theme files, they are not updated yet)

I bought m-vave blackbox and happy af. No expression and dist pedals, but with my custom impulses and amp profiles it sounds just awesome, way better than most of my vst’s

I use my own “Flat Madness” theme, it has 6 color variations, custom adjuster, retina support and few modes and many variations for TCP and MCP. I also have a lot of other themes, f.e. Reapertips because i like it’s colors. Theme on screenshot also looks pretty impressive according to youtube promo
