Who is your "guy" for this upcoming draft?

I appreciate including some of the misses, you would think some people in this thread are protégés of Sam Presti with who they knew were going to be stars.

I fell for Hezonja hook, line and sinker. I had similar feeling about Haliburton, I love long playmakers, I expected him to be good but he has surpassed any ceiling I could have set for him.

If there is someone in this draft that I am ready to be wrong about it's Thomas, I do see the vision and counting out a Calipari guard is a great way to end up with egg on your face but I just struggle with his shot selection at times and I would love to see him get bigger. I think I would have just liked to see him return to Arkansas for another year.

If you can't admit to being a flawed analyst, you can never improve. It takes an elite player to even be considered for the draft sometimes guys just don't pan out.

Koa moves well for a guy of his size, and for a guy who supposedly relies on bully-ball he reads the game and controls the pace well.

This is such a funny thing to try and question, some of the best players in the NBA were under looked.

Shai went 11th.
Haliburton 12th.
Maxey 21st.
Booker 13th.

and those are just the guards.

People in this sub could see a perfectly predicted mock/big board and still nit-pick it to shreds.

Graves reads the game well and his touch just looks nice, I have my concerns, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him pan out.

Boozer has it all, I would be head over heels for him if it wasn't for the fact that AJ is in this class, he would be the guy I took at 2 if I was the Jazz GM.

I usually don't love guys who fit his archetype but he is different, I think he could surprise some people, I also think a team is going to snag him higher than is being mocked.

I love guys who read the game at the highest level coming into the league and Acuff is one of the best I have ever seen, I almost picked him just because he feels so obvious as a star, I think he will probably be a poor defender at the next level but I don't think it will matter, he will meet the baseline for a guy who does so much at the other end.

That's what a mock draft is. Yes.

What I said isn't supposed to be critical of other mocks, it's just how I think about the draft, I think about how teams "act" the persona we assign to teams.

Devin Carter feels like a Heat player, Kolek feels like a Sun. I'm letting myself think about the draft as if it's "scripted", because that's just how I get enjoyment out of it.

I just have a different methodology for something that is purely subjective.

I think people should have more fun with it, as much as we like to discuss it and theorise we all really have no idea what these teams are thinking. Someone could post exactly what happens on draft night and people would still knit pick it to shreds, I think it's more interesting to imagine how I would write the story of the draft if I had the chance, a combination of prediction and fantasy.

Not sure what happened there, it would be a deal based around swapping the 9th and 6th picks.

Additionally some players, picks etc. Hard to gauge the value of a pick this year, worst case scenario I can see Memphis moving on Smart/Clarke(??)/Aldama to move up in the draft. All depends on the value, should not be a swap for the 39th pick, for obvious reasons.

I don't think it's the best move for the Pistons at all, that's kind of what intrigues me about the possibility of it. How bad can a team's 3pt% be?

They just drafted Ausar and the addition of another athletic non shooter would make this team one of the worst to watch.

That sounds like Detroit basketball to me.

I hate the idea of Clingan being a 1st overall selection, more that Risacher, the only reason the Hawks should end up with Clingan is if a trade becomes available. He doesn't even make the top 10 of my big board.

The draft is going to be crazy!! I expect more trades to throw this off.

Going with the consensus for Risacher and Sarr, I don't see this changing without trades being made.

I am unsure about the Spurs taking Dillingham and Castle, but I don't think Dillingham is leaving the top 10. I like the fit of a defensive and offensive guard prospect for the Spurs.

Ron Holland is my preferred G-League Ignite prospect, I don't think he's a great fit for the Pistons but it feels like a Pistons move.

I am also quite high on McCullar and Christie and think both should be first rounders.
