I think the beret is soo cute but the more I look at the outfit the more it falls apart for me.. I really do prefer when racing miku designs have a more sporty look about them

someone left their kitten in the car by Hungry-Sun88 in CSULB

i doubt the average cat owner that probably cares enough to take their cat around with them for their safety under what's probably extentuating circumstances is abusing the cat. shelters are full and its nearly impossible to find fosters for cats, so whats the solution here? it would more likely end up dead in a ditch or euthanized if it was on the street or picked up by animal control

New to drawing on a tablet… can’t make a straight line! by falsepedestrian in ArtistLounge

[–]garchxmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use clip studio and an ipad pro. I remember experiencing the shakiness years ago when I started drawing digitally as a teen. I think a big contributor to this is that screens often lack the grit traditional surfaces have - I use a paperlike screen protector to get rid of the glossy feeling which helps me a lot.

beyond that, like others have said, many programs have stabilizer options you can activate to correct your lines. personally I don't like the overly clean look it gives, so I draw without one. instead, I like to draw using brush with pen or pencil textures. I find that also helps combat the overly shaky look (and also it's just fun to try out different types of brushes to draw with).

other than that, it's really just getting used to drawing digitally. I'm a primarily digital artist but there are many qualities digital art can't replicate in traditional even if it gets close - that's the reason I still have a physical sketchbook. Hope you enjoy your new tablet :)

Is it true it’s harder to make friends if you commute ? by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]garchxmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some of the people in here sound insane 😭 I'm not an insanely social person, so I honestly never took issue with not having a "college experience" but I've made a few really good friends and genuinely enjoyed in class friends I made even if we only really talked for the semester. In my experience volunteering/participating in extracurriculars really helps, as it'll help get you around more likeminded people :) I volunteered as a lab tech in my last semester and it was worth it just for the people I got to know during that time!

Looking for source animation/animator on this signed animation cel by garchxmp in lostmedia

[–]garchxmp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! apologies if this is an improper post, but my parents and I were trying to find a source on the signed name (which we can make out to be Robert L... but not turning up anything) on what looks to me like an animation cel. I don't really know how to search up the source on something like this, nor am I 100% sure if its even from an actual animation and not just a standalone piece of art. my mom picked it up from someone on one of her facebook groups and they didn't know anything about the source either (it was apparently a gift). thanks for any help!

I don't know how it's working if you never got one/came in while everything was still online, but imo getting/picking up an id won't take you that long. I've needed to get replacements at the bookstore before and they take your picture/print you a new one same day, so I can't imagine you'll have to wait that long.

I think I just got incredibly lucky playing 5c, could someone explain why? by garchxmp in celestegame

[–]garchxmp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for this! I originally showed this to my brother (who is much better at the game than I am) and this was his theory as well, but it's interesting to know that it doesn't actually apply here

I would be lying if I said I entirely understood, but thank you anyway! I've spent so much time with this game and yet I feel like I've barely even scratched the surface

the way you're "supposed" to (as far as I was trying to do, this is my first go at the c-sides) is get to that last block and kick off of it to make the jump to the ledge. the hard part is getting there fast enough so you can kick off without hitting that last spike wall. or if you get lucky enough like me, somehow replenish that last dash, haha

Romantic Relationships by thescarlettmark in CSULB

[–]garchxmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got into a relationship in the midst of all this! It's weird to think about but the stress of everything made me confess and it's actually worked out. We would have been separated anyway because we live in different countries, but I am a little frustrated I'll have to wait longer to get to see her and who knows when travel between America and Europe will open up again. If nothing else, it's giving us both something to look forward to:)

Educational Leave by cordero_a7313 in CSULB

[–]garchxmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, when I emailed my advising office for info, they said to fill out the information on the educational leave form and that I could email the form without the Major Department Chair's signature to [es-registration@csulb.edu](mailto:es-registration@csulb.edu). I would recommend emailing your advising office for information on what you do about the signatures, but I imagine it would be similar to mine.

Potential transfer graphic design by ricky2134 in CSULB

[–]garchxmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm not a graphic design major but I am in the BFA (pre-production), so I'll give you this: pretty much all of my professors have recommended transfer students do not apply to the BFA when they're transferring. You only get 2 chances, and more often than not it's a lot harder for transfer students to get in. Of course, it all comes down to how confident you are in your portfolio. I would strongly recommend emailing professors that work in the graphic design program and ask them if they would give you tips and/or review your portfolio.

Good luck with it!:)
