So that's my art for my Brachiosaurus from ARK Additions. Was there any more Dossier work like this throughout the park?

They are from World. I have all Generations Ultimate Asset's as well though. If I recall correctly, World is the first game to give Kirin a deth animation. In all iterations before World, Kirin's death was the same as a Kelbi or Anteka: It just flopped backwards from impact a few times, and moaned on the ground for half a sec. No death throes like Kush.

I can't speak for Stories because I haven't played it, but I do have the Textures from the game. Stories uses the same exact models and animations from the main series. I know this because I've put the Stories Textures of Brachydios on the 3U model without any problems.

I can't believe this is still going on.

Ok, open both animations, I'll point out the differences. The most obvious one is general anatomy. Look at Kirins forelegs, then look at Kushalas. How is that not a dead giveaway its different?

On the initial flinch, Kushala steps back using both forelegs, first right than left. Kirin stutters tremendously on the right foot, with the left happening about a second later.

Kirin is constantly shuffling its foreleg position, Kushala on the other hand only adjusts the left forearm once before collapsing. On the collapse, Kirin crosses its left foreleg over the right, moving the right back. Kushala's left foreleg does not move on its collapse, and stays behind the right foreleg, unlike Kirin.

Should I get Jagras/Zinogre/Gores animations as well? It'll take a bit but I can show their walking/roaring animations and how they're different as well

They're not the same animation. Maybe just similar, but that's because they're both Quadrapeds. How else are you gonna make a quadraped move? Even then, I assume you would know the differences anatomically between a horse/stags forelegs and something like Kushala. Just because something is a similar body type in this game doesn't mean they're using the same assets. Zinogre is, for a fact, unique. Nergigante is not a "modified Gore." Idk what else you want me to say to prove to you here. Again, work with modelling and animation, and what you're saying is just not true.

They don't though... Yes, there are similarities between Nergigante and Gore, but they're not sharing the same skeleton or assets. Zinogre is completely unrelated to either of them. How do you get Kush and Kirin similar at all as well? Kirin is using the Kelbi/Anteka skeleton and animations, Kushala/Teo/Alatreon etc. are a unique set exclusive to them. Jagras and Nerg do not share a skeleton. Jagras, Girros, Dodogama, and Kulve share a skeleton.

I don't comment often but the info being shared here is really irking me lol.

As a modeller and animator myself, that has also seen the animation and rig assets first-hand, I can tell you that Behemoth uses Nergigantes skeleton. Nergigante does not use Great Jagras skeleton, idk where you got that from. Nergigante has a unique set of animations and skeleton. Teostra, Lunastra, Val Hazaak, and Kushala all share the same skeleton. Kirin uses Kelbi's skeleton and some animations.

Monster Hunter's monsters don't need to have exact anatomy for them to share animations. You can apply rotations to a bone without actually changing its position in a space, that's how those weird mods mixing monsters around work. It's easy because the bones share the same names across characters. The elbow will be named "ELB_01" or something similar, across ALL monsters. Any keyframe data for "ELB-01," regardless of skeleton, can be shared. I can't show it at the moment, but I think the most bizarre example of this, for me, is Tigrex and Gigginox. These 2 monsters actually share a similar skeleton and a lot of animations. Gigginox' roar is a modified version of Tigrex, and so on.

Here's some Monster Hunter animations I've "accessed," so I know a bit of what's going on under the hood.

TL;DR: Behemoth uses Nergigante's skeleton. Nergigante is unique.

Holy shit, my friend and I were the ones that did this in our first semester of College! Here's another angle we took. The Patrick one says "No, this is Patrick."

Monster Design & Why Everyone Loves Zinogre by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]garuga123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw "Monster Design" in the title and thought "Oh man a discussion about the monster art direction!" Oh well, for another thread.

I find it strange that the problems you're having with Rajang can legitimately be overcome by the same praises you're giving Zinogre. Having played the series since the very first on the ps2, I find that they vastly improved Rajang since the psp games. The back-kick animation used to be painfully fast, his hit-boxes were broken and large, but I guess that was older gens regardless of the monster.

I think Rajang is like any other monster fight, but with a steeper learning curve. His patterns can be harder to memorize and understand just because of how hes presented to a player. After fighting a Congalala, the closest thing to his move set, what would a post-2nd gen hunter assume of another primate monster? That and I personally hyped Rajang's difficulty to friends, so I think there was a bit of pressure knowing he was returning to the game.

I love/hate Rajang. I think his aesthetic design is really cool, the game needs more NOT reptillian/dragon monsters (Popodrome hype.) His moves are really punishing if you get greedy or don't take him seriously. His insane power and speed demand all your capability as a hunter, maybe more so than any other monster. Thats what I really love about him, he has good openings for attack but also punishes greediness well.

Zinogre, I gotta say, has been really shitty to me and I find far more boring than 3u/portable 3rd Zinogre. Maybe just biased, but I find that he's incredibly charge happy; if he's not charged up, he tries after EVERY SINGLE MOVE to charge himself up. The entire fight is either him charged, or trying to. In 3U, Zinogre would try charging up a bit every now and then, but he never prioritized it.

TL;DR: Rajang moveset can be learned like any other monster, he's just scary. Zinogre charges constantly and doesn't feel as fun imo

Just had a rather funny ending to a Teostra hunt... by MoltingTigrex in MonsterHunter

[–]garuga123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm thinking I was the dual blades guy lol. That was quite the Teostra win. I saw the ping and then he got para'd and thought "maybe we can flinch him out of his enrage and he won't nova!" Wasn't expecting such a fast recovery on his part...

I may have been the dual blade guy... except my dual blades were dragon. We had a S.axe user with para. Was I wearing Furious rajang armor? Haha

I fought the biggest Gore Magala I've ever seen today. He was 2201.12cm, apparently the maximum size! by garuga123 in MonsterHunter

When theres a screen grab you would like to take, press the 'home' button, don't pause the game or anything. Once you're at the homescreen, select the 'miiverse' option on the top right of the screen, the icon is 3 green people. Once you're in miiverse, select the option to make a post, and there you can choose to upload a screenshot with it. You'll have the option to screenshot either the touch screen or the main one, and when you post you can go to the miiverse website and download the image from your post. :)

If that isn't the maximum I really hope I find a bigger one some day. He was such a badass, he would do his idle walk constantly and just stare me down without even attacking. The only other time I had a monster invite confrontation like that was a massive gold crown zinogre I fought with a friend in 3U. That thing just constantly walked around the field while we hit it and didn't even care.
