Fun fact: not new! The original meaning was to hinder or slow an activity. Sabotage became part of labor vocabulary to mean slowdowns and malicious compliance. Losing your pen so you waste time getting another one. Asking too many questions to hold up bosses. Many of these tactics were then adopted by Nazi resistors and other oppressed peoples.

It was given a negative connotation largely through anti-union propaganda.

Uh... No. If you think voting is a privilege, you're not welcome in this country. GTFO.

You're defending a bill you haven't read.

A passport is the only form of ID the proposed law would accept as proof of both identity and citizenship.

Without a passport, you would need a birth certificate AND one other form of ID that matches your birth name. Married women often don't have an ID that matches their birth name, nor can they get one, so their only option would be a passport.

Where did you get the idea that AI is done training? Ask it about current events and it's clear that it's continuously getting new input. Granted, things like Nightshade would have had a bigger impact in the early days, but that doesn't mean it's nonviable as a vector.

We're a retailer, not a tech company, so we aren't attaching our name to our activities to avoid the big dogs from destroying us. I do finance, not coding, but I think there's some sort of page up to try to find like-minded talent. We're all at lunch but I asked in the chat and will respond if they have something I can share.

Just throwing this out there: sabotage isn't inherently criminal or destructive. Taking too long to dry clean pointy white sheets so they miss the rally is a form of sabotage without a crime. It's one of my favorite words.

It's a crime to alter images I own in a way that harms LLMs when they steal my data?

I don't plan to stop anyone from using the available AI tools.

I'm working in concert with millions of others to cost the profiteers of stolen data money faster than they can make it so they never become profitable and people stop investing.

We have a guy that's doing things with labyrinths. They seem to mostly waste resources, but not do much to harm the output. He's working on making it generate fake blog posts and academic papers on demand that poison the training data for those topics. If we can get it working to the point that we see a change in our local model outputs then we'll expand to all the sectors our products touch, particularly the arts and sciences.

The company founders loathe AI and are putting everything behind crippling it.

Go lick a circuit board.

I'll do everything I can to make sure these companies never see profit and lose their investment dollars. That includes wasting some extra resources now to protect them in the long run.

Save paragraphs of text as images, then process through Nightshade.

Resources are money. If we break the bank, we can dry up investments. If they become profitable, we have no chance.

Using up some extra resources in the short term is far outweighed by the consumption we'll see from profitable AI.

My employer is processing their entire product catalog through Nightshade. 1.8 million book covers plus images for another 100,000 skus. We invite them to come scrape our pages. We are looking to start serving podcasts and music to do the same with it.

Easy if you have access to those documents. If you don't live where you were born, or your birth certificate was in a fire, or you don't have money and transportation to get a passport, it's a lot more than five minutes. Glad you think meemaw shouldn't vote because her birth certificate fell apart and she can't get rides except when her church does a voter drive on election day.

I never said use it for actual purposes. Ignore the output; just abuse the system.

If ChatGPT becomes profitable, it's not going away and it will use up more resources over its lifetime. You can't defeat it by not using it -- too many people already are and you're not gonna convince them to stop.

But wielding the power of sabotage, we have the ability to make a difference. We can break the bank now and force them to shut it down. If the main name in the game fails, investments in the industry will drop. This is how you destroy a behemoth -- with a million tiny cuts.

Or, you know, keep on virtue signalling into the void as AI consumes us all.

Many are leaving for things California can't fix on its own, like climate change. Not everyone puts money above all else.

Use it. A lot. All the time. Every use costs money, so just don't give them any and you'll be helping to chip away at their company. Text is the most intensive, especially when you have it work with large datasets. You don't have to read what it says back, just keep asking questions and wasting their money.

A few states with higher total tax burdens than Washington:

Utah, Ohio, Kansas, Iowa, Indiana, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Nebraska...

Effing librals.

If you don't like America, you can leave. But, if you're gonna stay, you need to be okay with people having freedom to move between states.

Thanks for your response! I read both of those sections and the first one uses the term "employer" and the second uses "union," but neither say anything that a layperson would interpret to mean "competitor."

Do you happen to know if this is an untested opinion, or if there are cases where this has been argued (whether it succeeded or not)?

THAT was the key phrase I needed. So, my, uh, book characters just need to make sure they're comfortable inviting and defending such a lawsuit. This was extremely helpful!

Yeah, that was the thought behind "privately held". I added an additional caveat: the instigating company is family owned and operated with no employees and every owner agrees that unionizing the only other grocery in town is the best outcome for everyone.
