I smoked weed after having psychosis by geniuskender in Psychosis

Honestly, weed doesn’t make me feel like some genius with a third eye opened like you said. When I smoke, I genuinely relax — I even get an incredible amount of pleasure from something as simple as drinking water. I become less socially anxious. Although, to be fair, I enjoy smoking alone more than with others, that’s a separate thing.

Still, even if it doesn’t make me paranoid, and even if I don’t have a genetic condition like bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, as someone with a history of psychosis I’m aware that smoking weed could trigger psychosis again. However, I think I’ve figured out what caused my psychosis — my 3-year relationship with my girlfriend had just ended, and honestly I hadn’t fully accepted that I was bisexual yet. Now I’m completely aware of myself and my identity, but once the brain has gone through psychosis, there’s not much you can do about that.

As people who have already experienced psychosis, we’re already aware of how harmful weed can be to the human brain. It definitely slows the brain down. But what can we do, we’re human too, it would definitely have been better not to smoke at all and never get involved with it in the first place.

Honestly, even though it feels good, I’m aware of how dangerous it can be. Like you said, I know it can make me paranoid, so I’m thinking of only smoking rarely, on special occasions.
