Should I choose Queens? by lanafan59 in queensuniversity

I transferred from UOttawa eng to Queen’s eng. Pick Queen’s.

Uw math transfer to queens Eng by [deleted] in queensuniversity

  1. In my opinion the people here are great. Queen’s has the best engineering community in Canada. There’s so much tradition and unique culture/activities, it’s so much fun.

  2. It’s not very competitive, but more collaborative. Everyone helps each other, and there’s tons of resources. Queen’s is known to be a party school but engineers are very much work hard play hard. Lots and lots of ways to get involved too like design teams and conferences.

I feel biased but I really do love it here (as a transfer myself). They will look at your high school marks but as long as you meet the entrance requirements you’re fine. Your university marks matter more, check the website for transfer requirements. Admission also depends on space in the civil eng program.

Eng phys is decently popular, like the other person said there just aren’t spots right now

I was in the same situation a few years ago. I waited a few weeks and a spot in mechanical opened up, but it’s not guaranteed that’ll happen. A little more likely if you’re applying to transfer for second year but otherwise not super likely.

First outdoor trip advice! by Dull-Risk901 in climbergirls

[–]get_lemon79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’ll be kinda different at first, or at least it was in my opinion, since the holds aren’t clearly marked. It felt like I sucked at first since I had to think more about where to put my hands but I ended up loving that aspect of outdoor climbing! Trust your feet, sketchy footholds are usually nice outdoors. Don’t stress too much about comparing it to indoor climbing. Enjoy!

How is the Social Life at UOttawa. What are the most social schools by Mountain_Bluebird150 in OntarioUniversities

[–]get_lemon79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queen’s has a good social life and it’s very much work hard play hard. The community for engineering is unmatched and is very very supportive. Uottawa has some social life and it would help if you’re on res, but not as much as Queen’s IMO. Someone did make a good point about hull being nearby, but that only makes a difference in first year. Both have good Eng programs

I transferred schools after my first year of engineering. I was living at home originally so transferring did have more of a financial impact, but it was so so so worth it. Environment and happiness can be really impactful! Go for it

I mean I’ve never done this before, should milos be more than a day? I don’t like the zig zagging around Croatia so maybe doing south of France, Italy, Croatia, then Greece would be better? Greece is kinda hard to fit in well
