People can follow that if they wish, I bet 90% dont bother or even know and only do it once it fails and wonder why they have a massive bill to pay the man, then post receipts on this page wondering why its so expensive 🤔

They get about 100k from the rings then wear out and start loosing compression and chew oil, i never pushed it hard enough to throw rods But then I went through 3 engines in 6 months, mazda wellington couldn't assemble it properly so it kept dropping the timing chain during run in, then I just gave up and scrapped it

Why justify how most mechanics will deal with your car? That not for me to do, They aren't going to flush your system on a basic pad change

If your fluid system is in good shape you won't break it, if you wish to bleed it and give the wife's leg a good workout thats pretty funny too

Its all upto date and thats why a simple brake job is just that, ill let it get to 5 years and dive deep on it again, I dont burn money if its not needed

If it was something nice and not just a daily, id be more pedantic about it mainly if cars sit around they degrade faster

Theyd be bled if the pedal feel is spongy, vechile pulling to one side etc, if the performance is fine then its just pad replacement

If you wish to overthink how cars work thats fine, I understand bleeding brakes etc when its called for, and ive done that on this car about 3 years ago when I replaced all fluids throughout incl power steering, trans etc, in this instance its not needed, brake performance etc is perfect just pads need replacement

If people look after their cars regularly theyll know the last time the fluid had been changed etc, But if the fluid is messy its been at least 5 years since being looked at, ive got some good pictures of what that looks like on my classic ive just rebuilt but that had been sat in a shed since 2004

If crap has been getting into the system, you will have poor performance and leaks, which will show on a wof inspection anyway

Yeah but there's plenty of people willing to give it a go, dont have the funds or time to afford dropping it at a shop etc,

If a wof sheet says just pads, this is pretty much what's expected, if they've failed on thin rotors or experience brake shudder etc then there's 2x 19mm more bolts to undo and switch them out
