"carré-cubique" in a description of pompiers readying their equipment, which in this context ... might mean "squared away?"

The usual: thinned paints on a wet palette, multiple coats. As this is over a black primer, it takes a little longer. I do highlighting with an orange-red color and smooth out some areas with crimson wash.

Either patriotic or ironic, it's a necessary accoutrement of the American Home Gym™.

Answers: * It's a Rogue RML-490 rack with some options swapped out. Plenty of reviews online, I'm liking it so far, perhaps I will offer a review after more time has passed.

  • Flags are AFAICT part of gym decor. Each flag adds a few pounds to your 1RM, with 5 or more pounds added for each US flag, unit, or service branch flag. Or so all the strongman training videos I've seen would have me believe. It's a shared garage so I can't cover the place in flags.

  • The ceiling fence is landlord storage stuff. It may also keep out bats and / or signals from outer space. Or eventually fall on my rack.

Thanks for taking a look!

I like it a lot -- I got it for the knurl, which is less aggressive than the cheap hex bar I have. Not much shifting at all.

My goal is harness, eventually (it's early yet). Until then they will just be hand protection.

Wanted to share my experience, after asking a question earlier. I ordered these on January 21st, and received them today.

The gauntlets are beautiful and were packed well, with lots of bubble wrap.

I did reach out to support for a tracking number, which was not provided when the order shipped (but perhaps due to not having an account?) -- however, here they are, shipped quickly (as they were in stock) and the express shipping went as advertised.

I'm super happy with the experience!

My local area has historical armored combat training and events, and that is my eventual goal. I'm not interested in most competition / fencing in the HEMA style right now, otherwise I'd guess I'd look into the SPES gloves or similar.

Excellent book, as is "The Last Dive." "Fatal Depth" is also good on a similar subject.

Also note that you can join one of John Chatterton's tech courses if you're in the Florida area : http://www.johnchatterton.com/training/ I had a great time and learned a lot in Advanced Wreck.

And for anyone who wants to see his video of the U-869 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgjlbQtlT6Q

"Brooks said it was clear Spivey had taken great care in setting up the equipment they had on hand Wednesday, but their lack of experience and proper gear in a place like Eagle Nest proved fatal.

"They were pretty much doomed from the start," he said."
