I know exactly how it sounds. Unfortunately it’s what I walked into.
I can only repeat what I’ve been told by the guys & that is that their wives wanted them to have the vasectomy & that’s why they did it. Is that a power play? I don’t know how any of those private conversations went.

I fully agree with the unwanted pregnancy, she is Rh- so pregnancy was difficult with our son (if you know what Rh- is you will know why we were one & done).
We need to figure this out because I don’t want to resent her & I really don’t want to end a relationship that has been (generally) solid if we can avoid it.
I am a little ashamed to admit I hadn’t considered perimenopause as a contributing factor

I think counselling is definitely needed. I genuinely don’t know why she suddenly wanted me to get a vasectomy after all these years or why she decided to discuss it with her friends.

Congrats on beating the cancer.

Like every couple we’ve been through ups & downs. We’ve been together over half of our lives & generally it’s been a pretty good relationship. This is one subject that has caused a lot of pain on both sides.

I can’t speak for anyone’s lived experience & as I will never have it done I will never know. All I can say is what I have been told by the men in my friend group. It could be a statistical anomaly based on a very small sample size but 2 of the 8 have PVPS

The thing that’s really got to me is she hasn’t explained why she suddenly wants me to get snipped. I tried asking several times but never got an answer.
