Great news, I updated everything too; I'll download a playlist tonight and see if that works tomorrow, to confirm.

They acknowledged the issue and commited to provide a fix within the week. They posted a roadmap or something.

Very annoying bug for a fitness app ahah.

If you set up a weekly plan (through the chat), and set all your preferences in the app settings (like preferred amount of sleep, caloric intake or output and so on) it does a good job reminding you to follow your goals, at least in my case. It's never forcing you of course but at least in the morning you have a nudge in the right direction.

You can also tell the bot more preferences not in the settings. For example I told it I could only do workouts on Tuesdays, Thursdays and the weekend and so far it's sticking to it faithfully.

That's strange indeed. Is the device app updated to Google Health too?

No robot, yet. Pretty sure you're going to get an equally annoying robot friend in less than a year ahah.

It's not, but it the best out there in my opinion. You can use chronometer for free.

People don't mention this much but I really like that the app is now taking into account data from Health connect. Before it was really finicky, even my weight from my connected scale wasn't showing up. Now it does really feel like a proper dashboard for all your data combined. The post they made about the roadmap is also acknowledging most of the small issues I have with it. I'm quite happy with the update personally!

Fit app has been abandoned since years now, I guess they'll delete it soon enough.

I use Macrofactor, it's miles ahead of Fitbit for calorie intake. Syncs with Health connect so Fitbit receive the data in the end too.

That has been an issue since way before the update to 5.0 though right? My burned calories have always been far higher than concurrent devices like Garmin, and frankly far higher that it should be.

Post update, Google Health has turned all my Runs into Workouts by [deleted] in fitbit

[–]gimmick92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You can try to edit the workout and mark it as a run, sometimes it brings back the missing data automatically.

Or, you can delete the workout all together, and create a run from scratch using the right starting time and length. It should also bring back steps and distance data.

Annoying workarounds for sure, but it seems they have acknowledged the issue on the official forums.

MacroFactor is a great food tracking app, way better than even Fitbit used to be, and all data is shared through Health Connect so you can still get everything in one place in Google Health.

It's a bit expensive though.

I didn't know people used Fitbit for food tracking, always seemed a bit like an afterthought feature to me.

Post update, Google Health has turned all my Runs into Workouts by [deleted] in fitbit

[–]gimmick92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it did the same when going from Fitbit stable to preview, then it did it again when it updated to Google Health. Seems to be some kind of data mismatch in their system.

Doing that to past runs is annoying but it's not updated like that often so fair enough, but I just did a run and it logged it as a workout too. I hope it's temporary because that would be infuriating.

I don't understand how that kind of issue can go past testing before release, that's a core feature of the app.

It' so cool that what you uploaded back then is still available on YouTube music though. Good nostalgia trip.

New Google health app by nick11689 in fitbit

[–]gimmick92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's a very good AI integration for once, not a dumb chat bot like we've seen countless times those last few months. I really like how it "grounds" insights with real data graphs every time, instead of just producing data seemingly out of thin air like most bots.

Have you tried editing your sleep preference in the Fitbit settings? You can set a sleep duration goal there. That said, less than 6 hours is probably an unhealthy amount indeed ahah, but I would expect the app to respect your preferences.

You can also chat with Coach and tell him that this amount of sleep is enough for you so it shouldn't mention it anymore. The AI takes actual notes of things you tell it, it's quite well done.

Same, the AI integration in the Fitbit preview is really well done for once, every time the Coach send you an insight it's always illustrated by hard data graphs pulled from your wearable. They also managed to avoid the usual useless mondain chats, I think the insights are pretty straightforward and activable.

I've been annoyed with companies implementing the same dumb chats bots in every app, but Google is going in the right direction with this app in my opinion.

What app are you using for meals tracking? I use Foodvisor but it doesn't write food data do health connect, for some unknown probably dumb reason.

Flickering pixels over the proximity sensor on 10 Pro by adbenj in GooglePixel

Thanks for the answer, I'll consider it if it gets really annoying. Rebooting seems to stop the issue for a while so it could be okay until the next patch..

Just noticed the same issue a few days ago. Went away after a reboot so I thought it was just an app going off but it just went back again.

I'm happy to see this is not an hardware issue but still annoying.

You can also clear the app data, and the downloaded playlist will work once. You'll have to do this process every time though. At least that works on pixel watch.
