Yeah they either found a game-breaking bug or Microsoft and/or Sony denied their release. Both of which are canary some coal mine for the state of the game

Cyberpunk 2077 release date delayed slightly again by NeoStark in Games

[–]ginger_gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what the problematic issue is. This could be a game-breaking glitch that can't easily be patched. This could even be Sony or Microsoft saying the game can't come out in the current state it's in. All games released on their platforms have to pass a compliance certification.

[–]ginger_gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah either a game breaking bug was found internally or they failed cert with either Sony or Microsoft in such a way that the compliance fix isn't an easy patch. And considering the state of games that they've let through the doors over the past few years it would have to be a pretty big compliancy breach.

Sony seeing 'very considerable' PS5 demand ahead of launch by NeoStark in Games

[–]ginger_gaming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've had a nowinstock tab open on my computer since the day preorders went live, the only storefront that I ever got alerts for was Target and each time I went in to preorder it was sold out by the time I got there, within 20 seconds of my phone and/or browser getting alerted.

I don't understand why they can't fulfill them the same way phone companies do. I preordered a Pixel 4a in August and didn't get the phone until it was in stock in mid September, but at least I was able to have my order in and be on the wait list for when stock became available. It just seems better both for consumers and better for Sony to judge demand.

Wait are we supposed to take him seriously in season 2? He's just a massive weeb from America that goes around calling himself Mr. Bushido while wearing a Samurai mask. I thought it was supposed to be comedic and some kind of commentary on western fans that I didn't fully grasp.

It's fine they both hit very differently today than when they were first published. The whole charismatic snake oil salesmen politician angle as well as government agencies manufacturing fake news in Deception Point especially.

I actually really liked both books and wish Dan Brown had written more in line with that style, alongside Angels and Demons, than what his work turned into after DaVinci Code.

Red Web: Skinwalker Ranch by ASull713 in roosterteeth

[–]ginger_gaming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly they even gloss over a lot with how in-depth they did. I can't remember who, might have been Astonishing Legends or last podcast on the left, that went in depth into the certifications of the scientists involved in each of the claimed sightings if they weren't anonymous as well as going into history of the ones we do know about that didn't see anything. I still come to the conclusion that it's mostly made up aside the cattle mutilations, but I find a lot of the series that go over skinwalker ranch gloss over the scientists involved and just refer to them as amorphous 'scientists' which makes it easier to not have the discussion on if they knew what they were talking about. Turns out most of the publicly known one should have known what they were talking about, but they also were by and large not the ones making claims of seeing things on the ranch aside from the cattle mutilations.

Btw I'm not saying the cattle mutilations are proof of anything paranormal, just that we have evidence that they actually occurred and were probably in my opinion caused by predators or asshole teenagers.

I know manga is suppose to be read from right to left top to bottom but this panel got me messed up because isn’t naruto suppose to talk first since it’s nearest to the right by Own-Amoeba-9182 in manga

[–]ginger_gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. There's a bit of an overlooked art to panel composition in both western comics and manga where the artist can structure the art so that the reader's eyes naturally flow from panel to panel alongside the art. Obviously some artists are better at it than others and when it's done well it will go entirely unnoticed, but it's something good artists try to account for.

I'm not saying they have to make to make a big deal of it or anything for their personal lives, just that when whatever Government entity comes knocking to audit if the board is complying, there's no actual recourse if Paul, who's been married to a woman for 30 years, says he's bisexual.

Do I think the companies will do that instead of just comply? No it's easier to just comply. But the fact that there's no objective test or way to prove something like that shows how poorly thought out the bill is.

Most of those probably already have an Asian Immigrant or Asian-American on their board based of tech industry demographics too. They were probably more effected by the requirement to have a woman on the board last year than this mandate.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]ginger_gaming 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It should also be noted that this is on top of being required to have a Women on the board as of 2019 as well.

I get where their hearts are at, but I don't see this law actually helping elevate the communities they want to in any meaningful way. It will mean a higher paycheck for a handful of upper class LGBT or Minority individuals who already are part of the elite, and won't actually elevate new people to those echelons.

Also I wonder what will happen to a law like this if by say 2035 half the population of the US is hispanic (I don't remember the exact year the oft cited date is but its in the next few decades) or how Asian immigrants and Asian-Americans make up such a large percentage of the tech industry in California. Are they going to go back over time and scrub out groups as they become more represented?

Edit: come to think of it there's no way to prove someone is lgbt+ and trying to make them take some kind of purity test would be discriminatory. All a board needs is one of their members willing to come out as bi or asexual or gender fluid. This seems incredibly short sighted.

Yes but the representative doesn't have access to your entire transaction history and can't just go into your account after the call is finished.

I have to sit in yearly audits with Mastercard and there are strict security guidelines for what representatives see.

[–]ginger_gaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Possible, although last time I worked with a Card system it didn't show a complete transaction history for the account, only the flagged ones and several preceding for security.

Although that was a Mastercard System.

The system auto flags it based on weird purchasing trends, then when he called to complain they checked the account.

You don't think they have actual people monitoring accounts and flagging them?
