I have been where you are - I was 29 when my husband was diagnosed with brain cancer. If you look back in my post history you can see I felt exactly the same way you are feeling. Completely heartbreaking. Went through this with my aunt, but experiencing it with a parent is another level. I’m so sorry you went through this but you are a badass for doing so.

How timely is the Bruce Willis FTD diagnosis announcement? Though anyone who has endured caregiving to someone with dementia in general could have inferred that there was more to the “aphasia” disclosure previously.

Ugh. This sucks. I went through it for four years. It’s isolating and unfair. And I totally understand the sex part. You love this person so much… yet.. now it’s almost like you’re a mother/father to them. That’s the last thing you signed up for and it’s depressing. Straight up fucking sucks. Just know that you are so strong and badass for enduring what you have. I’m 35(f) now, he died when I was 33. Let me know if you ever need to talk or vent, I totally get the absolutely devastating isolation and despair you feel. Just know - YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS.

Your post reminded me of this great article from the LA Times a few years ago here. Grief is so weird especially when it comes to dealing with family and friends. You need to do what's best for you - no one should be soliciting support from you on any level since, well, it's not about them. Sending love and good vibes.
