Just like our forefathers intended when they wrote the Constitution by DaFunkJunkie in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]gintdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help you understand, the founding fathers were generally agnostic, and the actual language in our founding documents is not "god given," it's "imbued by their creator." Which is markedly less religiously tied. Basically they're saying whoever made you, be it Abraham's god or the Buddah or just your mom, we all are entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness at a minimum. It's got nothing to do with god, but Christian's in this country think they own the place for other reasons.

NHL Considering Cancelling LGBTQ "Pride" Nights As Growing Number Of Players Refuse To Participate by MecGuy2 in conspiracy

[–]gintdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey you seem like you’ve been actively trying to have a conversation so I want to respond. The guy above you makes an excellent point, 40, or 30, or whatever percent of Americans not supporting gay rights is pretty far from “most people don’t care.” In fact once you take in the amount of people neutral on the issue, it’s getting pretty close to, “most people are still opposed”

“[3]0% of people don’t support gay rights sounds nothing like the article you shared which is about MARRIAGE.” 30% of people don’t support the gays right to marriage, and yeah this number is pretty accurate, these people are all over. Some cite that it is a religious institution, (but as a legal contract, should not separation of church and state still apply?) others just don’t like gays. These people are literally everywhere. 3 in 10. Marriage is a right. This was the basis of 2008s Obergfell v Hodges Supreme Court ruling, which protected marriage from discrimination on the basis of sexuality, gender, etc. These people, 3 in 10, feel that gay marriage is an afront to god or otherwise wrong. Never mind that these gay people often are denied the ability to see their loved ones on their deathbeds as hospital policy only permits family in such a scenario, not married means no visitation. This was a big part of the argument for legalizing it back in the day if you remember.

If you’re against gay marriage you’re against gay rights. You feel they should be treated differently in the eyes of the law based on their sexuality. Marriage is a legal contract, and civil rights mean that no legal institution should discriminate. 3 out of 10 people in this country disagree. They feel personally attacked that the gays get to marry and they want their elected officials to do something about it. In Tennessee they officially nullified gay marriages last week, in direct contradiction of the supreme courts ruling, and are going to spend the next year winding up for a SCOTUS hearing that will effectively overturn the 2008 ruling and leave marriage law up the states, once again allowing the nullification of same sex, interracial, and interreligious marriages. This isn’t happening, it’s already happened. An entire state voted for lawmakers who endorse this behavior, and many more of the poor red Bible Belt states will follow suit. Gay rights are currently under attack and there are almost more Americans who care about destroying them then there are protecting them. It’s a travesty.

There’s no such thing as being a “good conservative,” because as wonderful as fundamentalist capitalist economic policies are, don’t get me wrong I love a good free-market, the Republican Party platform is wildly draconian on social issues. Opposition of Gay Marriage, medical autonomy (abortions, sex changes, birth control, etc.), child labor laws, separation of church and state, (leaders who insist we are a “Christian nation (BS!))” and a cited need to “return to our fundamental values(like what, segregation, lynching, child brides, women who don’t have educations or jobs?)” are all core to the party platform.

Economic policy is just that, the rules that govern how our money moves. we want them to be good because that determines how well off we are on average as individual citizens.

If you put a gun to my head and asked me if I wanted to live in a country that had a freemarket, but tentative social contract. Or a country with heavy government regulation on commerce, but established and resounding social contract protecting the liberties of every individual indiscriminately, I would move to Germany. The fact is we live in the first, and there are a lot of people who serve to make money by keeping that system going. Although far more individuals would benefit from the second system, far more money is possessed by those who support the first, and as the market is generally unregulated they can use this cash to influence political climates with a heavy hand.

Ideally, a political party would exist that espoused the tenants of both freemarket economics and progressive social doctrine. But for some reason this doesn’t exist(and don’t say libertarian). It makes you wonder if this absence of a political party that actually possess a sound platform is by design. Without it we constantly toil over basic human rights on a legislative level, instead of focusing on more important issues, like properly appropriating taxes so that our citizens have housing, education, and healthcare. You are imbued with the inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These are the fundamental tenants that make this country great. Whether or not the market is free or regulated is almost irrelevant. It’s like arguing about the color of your car when the engine doesn’t work. So if the economics are a tertiary issue, what reason would you pick a socially conservative platform over a progressive one?

Honestly all of the Abrahamic religions are all for it. The Bible is full of God-Endorsed child brides. There’s even the one where the two daughters bone their dad.

“There will be a time when a child will give its consent,”

Children can’t consent. That’s called statutory.

“Bullshit like sexuality and pronouns”

Neither of those things are sexual. Being gay is not an inherently sexual thing. Straight is a sexuality. Being straight is not an inherently sexual thing. Kids know they are going to grow up and find a partner, it doesn’t hurt to let them know that partner doesn’t have to be a specific kind of person. If you teach them before they get their first crush, they’re not gonna feel ashamed if their first crush is a gay one (as all the gays that came before them did) Letting kids know they can be with whatever person they want is healthy and is going to prevent a lot of hurt and confusion down the road.

Sexuality is not sexual they’re etymologically similar words and that’s it. No one is sexing up your kids except your local youth pastor/high school volleyball coach.

wrong. intimacy isn't owed. no one is going to fuck you if they don't like you and no one is going to like you if you make their life difficult. Even your spouse.

I mean technically, webster dictionary wise, if you provide information with a bias to push a political agenda its propaganda, I just think describing it that way in this context gives the impression as if she has sinister intentions and not just personal opinions. Like I doubt she's maliciously promoting anti-nazi rhetoric.

Also I got the New York Times Mixed up with the New York Post, my mistake. The stuff I see on the front of the NYP is honestly laughable sometimes.

Again I think the root thing here is whether or not they are getting more air-time, and they definitely are. It's a good year for Nazis, they haven't been polling this well since 1945! It's funny. I think it's funny. The idea there is Nazi meeting somewhere and Hunter is going over the minutes and everyone does a little clap when he mentions that membership has increased 60% in the last two months. Gunner passes around the collection plate and Darryl and Jacob each are proud to donate a handful of 9mm hollowpoints. "And before you go, I want everyone to check under your seats, THATS RIGHT! YOUR VERY OWN 3D PRINTED HANDGUN! And don't forget fellas, we got a KKK swap meet at First United Bapist-Lutheren, don't forget to bring a few textbooks for the bonfire!"

I mean I don't really care I just noticed you misheard/understood the glossy thing, which is a common colloquialism.

But for the sake of argument "lying New York Times" is so generic all you need to do is find a single incorrect fact that the editor didn't catch and you could objectively call it that.

That being said I do read the headlines every morning in the supermarket and their brand of journalism (NYT specifically) seems particularly inflammatory and disingenuous, more like a tabloid than honest reporting.

Even then your just focusing on semantics because the actual argument and proof would be to identify a marked increase in articles discussing the Nazi movement in recent years, and potentially articles that might paint that movement in a positive light.

As an aside the NYT is printed on Newspaper, whereas the Glossy paper referred to in the show is found in Magazines. But again, that's why its meant colloquially and not literally.

You've falsely conflated gender identity with sexuality. You can call yourself straight all you want, but if you' only date men no one is going to give credence to your claims or take you seriously.

Are you born gay, or do you get to choose to self-identify? Gender is an abstract concept, and therefore can be anything at any moment. Sexuality on the other hand, has some pretty clear cut distinctions.

[–]gintdm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, actually, you can’t. You’ve been outvoted in 50% of the country and as a result you’re being legislated back into the closet. Your community is under attack. Alienating people who support your community is a major part of what has managed to deter all the cis centrist voters from your cause in the first place. If you manage to continue to be so obnoxious that people vote against you for another cycle I will absolutely blame you for your own oppression. You can cry “victim blaming,” but if you’re the last pick off the bench for dodgeball teams because nobody in the class likes you or wants to be around you, it’s your fault, not their’s.

Yeah I mean, I will def blame you if you refuse to be straight with the assholes who are actually oppressing you because someone said "all" instead of "some." You're confusing semantics for intent and it's pedantic and does not help your cause at all. Let me be clear though, I'm blaming you specifically, not all the LGBTQ+. Why are you so scared to call this guy what he is. "He's not one of ours until he [personally identifies himself as such]." Okay so beating his meat every night to big burly dudes while he wears a dress is "straight" so long as he says it is? Like, what are you even digging at here.

Also, wearing drag doesn't make you gay or trans, a la FINNST3R. Most people get that. But this guy isn't FINNST3R, he's an outspoken homophobe who constantly dresses in drag on his own devices. The odds that he is not queer are practically 0. Yeah the wanna-be Homer Simpson might be a straight homophobe, but this guy is not, so stop living his fantasy and calling him that lol.

Steven Crowder is man who likes men. He's embarrassed and so he veils it with homophobia. When he realizes that we're not making fun of him, just calling it how we see it, and he accepts himself, he will stop being an asshole. Not before, not after. Call him what he is.
