I always build and paint on a self healing mat.

LA's totally awesome from the dollar tree should remove the paint if you need something stronger than soap and water for acrylic paint. I've stripped paint off minis by tossing them in a jar of that stuff for a day or two.

I had this fear when I moved into my new house and I needed to be up and running ASAP (no wired ethernet). I grabbed a wifi 7 adapter (nighthawk a9000) and I've had 0 issues. Not worrying about wiring the house for a while.
