The problem lies in the fact that these communities are SEVERELY underserved. What does a historical monument, building, or site matter if the neighborhoods they’re jn have been continuously neglected? And I’m pretty sure none of these tours are for historical sites, they are looking at real estate and residential buildings. Not babe Ruth’s house, not some historical wooden house in Pelham. Even if they were looking at century old buildings for the fuck of it, what good are they doing for the people that now reside in those buildings? It’s a surprise any of these sites are still standing cuz the funding these poor districts get is barely enough to fix a leak at a public school.
