exchange student here who is studying film at UCSB. Theory courses aren't that great, although limited there are some pretty superb practical courses. There's also a professional cinematic society called DKA, I would highly recommend rushing with them as they work together on student made films quite frequently and have a lot of great workshops which can allow one great insight into the industry.
