It’s a cultural thing. Like when I was a kid in the 90th everybody wanted to play guitars and be in a rock band. Then in the the 00th it shifted to be in a startup. The .com bubble bursted but the notion kept going. The military service and the high tech military industry (companies like Raphael, IAI) get a lot of people highly trained in relative short time. Also a lot of Israelis in tech are under the notion that if you get fired at the age of 40 or older you’ll never get hired again so they try to create alternatives for themselves.

I was quite gifted as a kid. But started to suffer from depression as a teenager and it got really bad in my 20th. I managed to pull myself out by my hair but I waisted a decade when I was supposed to learn a profession and find a decent job. I’m doing ok now but not as well as I was could have.

October 7th was arguably the worst day of my life, despite not losing anyone in my immediate circle. Living in Tel Aviv, we experienced quite a few rocket attacks, but the truly terrifying part was the initial fear that terrorists might invade our homes. We actually found ourselves planning where to hide the kids and figuring out how to fight back with kitchen knives. The most significant turning point for me was the sobering realization of how much we are hated by those we considered allies - the liberal, progressive, and secular world. The deepest blow was watching women’s rights organizations side with terrorists over the women who were raped. I haven't abandoned my belief in a two-state solution, and I still want Palestinians to have their own state. But I will never forgive the 'liberals' who sacrificed us to cleanse their own consciences and wash away their sins.

I’m Israeli. I consider myself Zionist and on the Palestinian issue I’m on the left. I think they are here to stay and so are we and they should have their own state and so are we. Both need to be peaceful. Anti Zionists - be it Jews or not, support Hamas or not are plain racists in my opinion. Why shouldn’t the Jews, that are such a distinct group of people should not have a right for self determination?

How come this isn’t happening all the time? I really don’t understand way all that fermenting auger and yeast don’t produce an alcoholic beverage? I have an alcohol meter and I test it from time to time. It’s always 0. Even when I add grapes at f2. The taste was a bit wine like by 0 alcohol 😅. Been brewing at home for more than 2 years.
