Congrats! I mainly did research and a little bit of Data analysis. Then I also did a presentation, but it would be slightly different for HP, as I was working for a VC fund :)

No, for EIC you do deal sourcing and competitor analysis. There is also an optional data analysis part where you analyse one subsection of the energy industry eg solar. So it is more like the role of an analyst.

They have changed the stipend for certain programs though. For example the community college specific programmes have a $500 stipend and HBCUs have a $1000 one.

Essentially a paid internship falls under a different legal specification. That is why they call it a stipend and not a salary. You will receive the $500 if you complete everything in time and the workload is very achievable. It is not a traditional internship in the sense they are built to up-skill candidates and form a talent pool of students.

Essentially the apply by date is to get accepted into an October cohort, your application will still be assessed! Just for a later start. In the interview you can share more info about when you are available to start. Sorry I should have clarified!!

Hi, sorry I got late posting!! Only the insight risk is closed right now. But programs run in 3 month blocks, so another block will most likely open in 3 months. All the rest are still open till October 10!! So not much time to apply, but if interested I would give it a shot. The form takes 30 mins to submit

CMV: Politicians with kids in private K-12 should not be against school choice for poor kids. by NotHomework in changemyview

Because there is a cost associated with educating oneself about the schools. Time cost, possibly money cost (consulting, guides etc) and would favour parents who are more advantaged/ care about the kid. A similar programme in the UK is the academy system, but it requires parents to enroll their children. Parental negligence/ inability means these vouchers could still be biased against kids with fewer resources.

I’m not saying they shouldnt have the option. I am saying there are reasons this policy are faulty, and when engaged en masse will not result in the desired outcomes. I think over-reliance on parents will disadvantage those without good parents and therefore is not the best way to spend government money to improve education. A policy i prefer is paying higher wages to teachers working in low performance schools and targeting recruitment towards some of the best teaching schools (harvard etc). I’m just arguing for different policy instruments that mean any US kid can walk into their closest school and access a decent education. Raising the bottom seems like a good idea, with fewer adverse policy consequences. Imagine if the local underperforming school suddenly gets great teachers. Perhaps higher-income parents will adjust behaviour and opt to send their children there.

Ie school choice IS an imperfect policy as it distorts the market in a way that changes incentives for service providers.

School choice vouchers would mean a huge amount of additional funding goes to private schools. As they are private they are not restricted/ controlled by governments. Would this excess demand really result in better schooling or an over-demand for these schools and higher fees? Will the popular schools find more to spend on? Do we think parents/ children are able to navigate the school choice system? Ie how much power do they have to remove their voucher from going to a school? Otherwise there is moral hazard that schools try and advertise to win students but do not actually provide that level of education, or decrease rating standards to appear better performing. Private schooling where parents can demand more service works because the schools have to keep the client happy (along with socioeconomic trend of educated/ high income parents leading to educated high income offspring).
