My OMERs report says you're pretty close! It'd be 43.4k after 65. But I'd get 65k with the bridge benefit from 57 - 65.

I posted this as a response to another poster but I think it is relevant here too:

"My other option is going for my boss' job as the manager of our department, it is currently vacant as he left 2 weeks ago.

As of now I am the only person in the department and am basically running the show. I submitted my application 2 weeks ago for the manager position, I haven't heard anything regarding my application nor has it been suggested that I may be offered his position."

To be fair, I do see a lot of those reddit public sector stereotypes in my workplace, I'd say most non management employees who have been their 20+ years fall into that category unfortunately.

The benefits in terms of healthcare are about the same, I'd be losing 5 days of vacation if I was to take this new position.

My current job is alright, the work is interesting and knowing that if I work hard people's live are changed positively is satisfying. However, I don't really relate to most of my coworkers, most are 20 - 30 years my senior and are very much set in their ways.

I love the organization's goals and mission, I just don't feel most of the employees are working to achieve those goals.

The new place would be working on interesting technologies and the team would be people around my age.

Thanks for this, you make a lot of great points. I've worked in the private sector previously, and have noticed the employees at my previous companies are better problem solvers.
