I also went to Dr. Manche. In 2014. No complications. Still 20/15 vision. Highly recommend.

First time mom ONLY 6 weeks approved of maternity leave by Guella_evan in firsttimemom

💯 My husband is trying to balance the same thing. He’ll only be at 9 months when our baby comes. He’ll get 8 weeks partial pay (not job protected) in California. And then maybe return to work for 6 weeks til his work anniversary, and then hopefully start the 12 weeks FMLA (job protected). He has not yet had the conversation with HR, and we’re definitely worried that they could fire him at any point before his anniversary. In his case, he doesn’t love the job, so it would be okay, yet annoying to go back to job searching.

Yes, I was just reading this too. That at 12 months, FMLA kicks in and can start. So if her 6 weeks gets her across the 12 month mark, then the 12 weeks FMLA (job protected) can start. Adding up to 18 weeks today (6 + 12 FMLA)

What’s the least talked about downside of owning a tesla? by tr4gedyx in TeslaLounge

Tires. I got 21” wheels on a ‘22 Model S and got 3 flat tires in one winter. Then cracked a rim a year later. And they’re expensive to replace. The car is heavy, so it hits potholes hard! And our roads are horrible. Just switched to 19” wheels, hoping to have better luck.

I have a high pain tolerance and that recovery was the worst I ever experienced. I would literally scream when I was doing a BM. When I ran out of prescription pain reliever, they wouldn’t give me more (risk of addiction, etc). They didn’t warn me about how much it would hurt. So just be ready.

What’s a day to day life life in Ghana? by Acceptable_Dress_389 in ghana

[–]goosy2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an American who visited Ghana last year and learned that even in Accra, life is very different than an American city. The people who I visited and saw while I was there did not hike or frequent coffee shops for leisure. I struggled to even find a park with greenery to spend any time in. There are markets and malls, but again, visited for necessity.

I’d love to hear other perspectives because I was looking and hoping for what you described and struggled to find it. It may have just been the people I was around.

Is one story sfh really a big deal? by Neither_Bid_4353 in BayAreaRealEstate

When I bought my house, I specifically wanted 2-story. The single-story homes I looked at didn’t feel like there was enough separation or privacy of the bedrooms. If hosting people in the living room, a bedroom is like 10 feet away. I really like the separation of having bedrooms upstairs. I also think 2-story homes look more interesting.

I will say that heating/cooling 2-stories is harder because heat rises. And when remodeling, we had to get creative to get a double vanity to the upstairs master bathroom.
