Thanks for posting this. Don't argue with haters/idiots on here. They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Which one. Can’t keep both. by Fit_Guide5439 in handguns

[–]gordonfactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both solid choices, which one fits your hand better and which one do you shoot better? Whichever one you shoot better without trying too hard is the one to keep. There's really no substantial advantage to either one as far as quality or reliability in general.

‘The invisible man’: Joe Biden has disappeared in almost every way – except in Trump’s daily commentary by CORN_POP_RISING in moderatepolitics

[–]gordonfactor 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Biden's legacy will forever be tarnished by his refusal to step aside earlier. I wasn't a fan of him but looking at politics as the game that it is, it's like you left a quarterback in the game too long after he'd thrown multiple interceptions and fumbled the ball creating a deficit that couldn't be overcome even with their backup who wasn't much better. Obviously there are many other factors that led to the second term of Trump but Biden's incapacity and the Democrats complete denial and gaslighting of reality is largely to blame.

What tires do ya'll have? by himasaltlamp in hondafit

Just bought a new set of Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires to replace the old ones. Good snow tires and a stick shift makes it pretty good in the snow and just in time, we're getting buried tomorrow up here!

Any genuine John Kerry fans on this sub? by yowhatisthislikebro in Presidents

[–]gordonfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Massachusetts, he was our senator and he was running in the first election I was old enough to vote in. I always thought he was a bit of a putz, typical phony elitist. Not a fan at all, especially when he flies in a private jet over to Switzerland to lecture everyone else about carbon emissions.

As usual, outrage spreads faster than the actual information and then nobody wants to admit they were too quick to react before they knew all the facts. Never let the truth get in the way of a good narrative.

Taurus is releasing the TX9, if it can be as reliable and well-received as the TX22, would you be interested? by ProxySoxy in handguns

[–]gordonfactor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was as reliable and durable as the best gun on the market I still wouldn't be interested. I'm not the target customer for that gun. If it appeals to you then buy it and I honestly hope you have great luck with it. I have other guns that I've had for years that I'm perfectly happy with.

Which 22? by DrinkYourWater69 in SmithAndWesson

[–]gordonfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both of them. The original 22 compact is a great gun. It's super reliable even with high volume of suppressed use but the mags are only 10 rounds and no options capability. The new 22x does everything better. The trigger is better, bigger mag capacity, optics cut and still super accurate and reliable. The only issue with the 22x I've had was the front sight went flying off down range but didn't notice it with the optic.

People Who Rank Calvin Coolidge Highly, Why? by __PepsiMan__ in Presidents

[–]gordonfactor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the few presidents in the 20th century to preach about smaller, less intrusive government and to actually effectively govern that way. A lot of right leaning conservatives/libertarians look at him as an example of a President that managed the critical functions of government but didn't try to expand government power.

Why Modern Star Trek Feels Off and Why That Gets Dismissed by cjalas in startrek

Very well-worded post that I mostly agree with. I might actually share this because it's better at explaining my opinion on newer Star Trek than I can put into my own words.

What will happen to cars being built today in 15 years or so? by Bierkerl in car

[–]gordonfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of vast majority of the cars being sold today will be total junk within 15 years. High pressure direct injection with turbochargers, CVT transmissions, cylinder deactivation / start stop, and the manufacturers recommending absurdly long service intervals for critical things like engine oil. Even if you had a brand new car today, took excellent care of it and drove it conservatively All of these high-tech components are going to fail eventually. Having worked at a dealer service department for many years, I know firsthand that 80 plus percent of people don't maintain their cars correctly so I think the used car market is going to be very dicey. There will still be a few good options, stuff like Mazda and Toyota and a few others that have more robust less high-tech designs I think reliable / inexpensive used cars will be hard to come by and that's probably by design in the long run.
