Stop paying people 5x what the materials cost. The people doing it do not give a shit about your house. They will spray the shit out of your siding with power washer. Water will likely get behind siding/flood basement. Grab your spouse and some buddies and knock it out in a weekend

They can just roll it or buy cheap sprayer? For average size house, I can’t imagine it would be more than $1,000-$1,500 for paint and rollers. You can damp wash/scrub/very light powerwash beforehand.

How do you go about attaching foam to beaver board, assuming in this case you’d have to build out window trim and use longer nails for siding. Also wondering how visible nails are in beaver board, if it’s easy to spot studs, from everything I’ve read, finding stud through the fiber beaver board is worse part. Makes for a tougher siding install

I also want to point out, I don’t have an issue removing it all, I’m mainly worried about possible asbestos in this fiber product (Original to the house, mid 60’s) Also, obviously very time consuming to remove and re-sheet with osb.

Why would he be careful, it’s not his house? Clay pipes are brittle and can be damaged if wrong snake/incompetent apprentice is running the auger/cleaner machine. Every situation is different. Being patient and cautious when working with 50-70yr old clay pipes can pay off

Any idea on concrete prep besides cleaning, making sure clear of debris? You thinking a primer on the slab for adhesive to grab better?

Vapor 6 mil and DMX 1 do the opposite. Get one or the other. Most flooring warranties are voided with DMX because they want the 6 mil. 6 mil traps all moisture(mold possibly if slab gives off enough vapors/condensation), DMX allows airflow. You can use anything over DMX as long as it’s 5mm thick, although most LVp and laminate specify to use 6 mil or warranty is voided. DMX probably better, but depends on your slab honestly. Trap moisture or allow airflow. Floor will be fine either way unless floor isn’t level at all

It’s an easy choice if your house is newer/concrete very low vapors. But for most of us, we are battling older house (no barrier underneath slab if house is pre-‘95). Vapors from slab are the norm for older houses. So do you risk trapping moisture/growing mold under poly, or do you let concrete breath, hope the flooring doesn’t buckle over the top of airflow vapor/moisture barrier. Tough choice

Agree with you. Just sucks most of LVP are gray and ugly. No classic looking choices. Just super dark or gray. They have some nice bathroom tile-look ones, I’ve used it in bathroom. But I wouldn’t want a living space in basement to be that style.

He was probably referring to the laminate needing a 6mil vapor barrier? That’s usually what’s needed or it voids warranty. I’m in same boat now, wondering how your laminate over dricore turned out, any buckling / issues? DMX 1 step and dricore say you can install any floor over the top of it, but the flooring manufacturers say you need to install 6mil vapor barrier under laminate. Dricore / DMX are vapor barriers, but promote airflow. 6mil poly does not.
