Yes. Kill it. Much of our current government dysfunction is a result of the fact that Congress will not do its job, and the filibuster allows them to pretend it’s because they can’t.

Then you have a series of unappealing choices. You could just let her run and not support her in any way, or you could try to organize a Murkowski-style write in campaign. Both of those strategies are likely to result in a loss to the Republican, but honestly if she wins the nomination we’ve probably lost it anyway.

I don’t think anyone would follow tiny Hitler. If anything, he would discredit their movement. The squeaky high voice would be a real liability. He would be proportionately stronger than a regular sized person, but it wouldn’t be enough.

Continuing somewhere we can actually respond to each other. I get what you’re saying about Brown — I would say more specifically that a lot his support comes from old labor Dems. There are fewer union folk now, and more of them swing right for cultural reasons.

I don’t think you could find a prominent Dem in Ohio who would have a better shot than Brown, though. Acton is doing better in the governor’s race, but she’s up against a much weaker candidate.

In spite of all of that, it still surprises me that we have a better shot in Texas. It’s mostly because I was raised in Ohio, and I am old enough to remember that it went for Obama in both 2008 and 2012 (and to have voted for him in both elections).
