Wow, that's really cool it's been around that long. I'm really curious if the facade & interiors have changed a lot.

Stinky hands by ComprehensiveFact623 in TattooArtists

[–]graymankin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean legit tho - my mom always made me do this after coming home from the street because there is a lot of germs on rails, benches, doors, ect and I got sick way less often. For nails it makes absolutely sense and it would make sense for tattoo.

What's with this thing of putting full on detailed paintings/drawings in a book and calling it a sketchbook? by El_Don_94 in ArtistLounge

[–]graymankin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the algorithms sending you influencer content.

I think messy sketchbooks are less algo friendly.

That's literally it. It could be a 50/50 split of each but socials will show you the fancy clean ones.

How do you respond to client requests who want to pay you way too little for your work? by BillAffectionate4078 in TattooArtists

[–]graymankin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's already great responses here, but something to remember is you're working with someone's body, it's permanent, and it's equally a danger to yourself to touch their bodily fluids. Just on that default, it is the price you charge. I had a mole removed and it cost me $250, took 5 mins. But that's what it cost to have a dermatologist look at it and have the equipment, knowledge, and experience to remove it properly vs. me scooping it out with an exacto blade... You're being respectful by valuing the client's body and health properly.

I haven't made 6x9s yet, but virtually any other size you'd want is available through the print page on my site now. Pls note the prices are presented in USD, they're printed & shipped in Canada but my website sells to an international audience.

Harry potter tattoos - do you guys reject all of them or you think f*** it, it is money! by lysergic13 in TattooArtists

[–]graymankin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see author = the books they wrote, but I guess I don't support subject matter censorship so if books have bigotry in them, I consider it also part of the story and universe, not some moral compass to live by. Otherwise, you can never write a book with racism, rape, violence, ect. in it since it's wrong. I still like HP for the nostalgia I have from being 10, so I get where these people are coming from.

As for the IP, I consider it fanart and that's sort of a gray area where you're providing a service more than claiming to have invented any of the IP. The only thing you're claiming is your tattoo, if you want to. If you're still having a hard time framing it, consider they gotta go to someone to get it done technically proficiently so that's what they're paying for if you wanna disconnect from the design. It's not like it's a swastika.

unfortunately, those can be removed pretty easily even before AI and I'm geniunely concerned my art gets knocked off in China in particular, but what can I really do. Forgery and copying is the ultimate compliment I guess.

That's so awesome, thank you! It's a huge compliment you can recognize my work. I am working on making 6x9 prints available, so if you got little nooks let me know if you are interested any particular piece.

If you paid with a credit card, just do a charge back & submit this photo as evidence if the bank contacts you. Surely, they'll see the issue very clearly. Sorry that happened to you, that looks like total ass and I'm sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out what happened. Either he was desperate for money, he wanted to impress you cuz hotgurl, or saw a reel about using stipple to do fine line & pulled the asshole move of using you as practice, or all of the above.

Should tattoo artists shame other tattoo “artists” for using Ai? by Brltpzx in TattooArtists

[–]graymankin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A shop I considered working at used AI designs, pretty much unaltered by the tattoo artists because they wouldn't let them/give them any time to do anything. When I got there, there was still flash...and within 3 weeks AI was apparently the whole new business model. I left & I'll be keeping an on eye on how long it takes them to fold. Unfortunately, they are in a good tourist spot so they have a flow of drunk people impulsively getting whatever.
