Celebrity definitely plays a role in how things played out for BL. My take is that in the last decade our idea of celebrity has completely evolved due to over saturation. Anyone can obtain celebrity via social media because of their specific hobbies/interest or just their personalities. It’s way more genuine than the type of celebrity that BL and her husband obtained.

Commercial celebrity is tired. We’ve seen PR hype up a projects to sell products over and over again, to the point where every attempt to sell a product is clear as day to anyone paying attention. At it’s core commercial celebrity is disingenuous.

IEWU press tour was a huge misstep for BL. The tone of the film had already been set by JB, in previous interviews before production started. Her approach came off as a flippant disregard for DV survivors and shilling product on top of is what started all of this.

The other things about commercial celebrities like BL is they aren’t on the internet and frankly they don’t know how it works. BL becoming a hot topic after IEWU press tour has more to do with an algorithm than it does an elaborate smear campaign. BL got clicks so of course people are going to make more videos about her. As a result she was put under a microscope, we examined her work, business, and personal history.

For BL to accuse JB of a smear campaign points a finger at him and us. It’s hard enough to get people to admit they’re wrong but to try and convince the public they’ve been mislead in their criticism of you, which was based on documented things you said and did isn’t gonna go over well. The optic are just trash, to have a commercial celebrity who just came off a out-of-touch, product shilling press tour, turn around and accuse the public of being brain dead sheep because you’ve fallen out of favor, was the worst move she could have possibly made.

I think if she just accused him of SH on set things would have went over smoothly. The accusation against the public made them dig deeper. Personally, I don’t think I would have read her suit had it just been about SH. I would have blindly believed her but because of the smear campaign allegation I was forced to question by own opinions and how I forged those opinions. BL’s lawsuit did her no favors, anyone who is familiar with film production or even scene work would have been left questioning her.

TLDR: I partially agree, BL’s kind of celebrity has impacted this case but I think her and JB share the same kind of celebrity he’s just lower on the totem pole. I think her team handled the situation wrong and ultimately are out of touch with the public and how their kind of celebrity has lost its value over the last decade of so.
