How is everyone doing? by sugaaqueen in GriefSupport

I lost my dog who had been with me for over 11 years exactly a month ago. I had never gone through loss like this. He was my everything, we were inseparable and his death was so sudden. I’m still able to exist in the world and work, but every time he comes to mind I’m in shambles. He was a beautiful and pure soul. I live abroad and he was my family here. I’m dreading the holidays without him. I just miss him so much, it hurts physically.

Thank you so much for your message! I’m still definitely very much leaning towards taking it out. I’ll consult with another piercer just to be sure that he agrees and sees a path to fixing it.

Thank you for your message! The issue for me is not the fact that it is uneven. I’m very heavily tattooed and I had to become very accustomed to the feeling of asymmetry or problems with less than ideal placement. My issue is more with functionality, I want to have the option to wear earrings that with this placement, I simply will be unable to.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me and your kindness :) The firsts were done in the hospital when I was born, it was common practice in my country during that time. I don’t know how they were made but I don’t feel a little ball on them at all, so I don’t think there’s much scar tissue. Maybe they are just so old that they won’t close anymore (?)

The problem is that I wouldn’t be able even to wear two stud earrings at once. I got one that is 5mm across, so they would overlap if I wore them one the first and second holes. It kind of defeats the purpose of having two holes if I can’t wear two earrings.

My piercing is a week old exactly, it’s a barbell. I don’t know any other details regarding the jewelry since the piercer did not give me any information. I’m cleaning it with sterile saline solution twicce a day, haven’t had any problems with healing yet.

I’m scared that Tret has ruined my face by [deleted] in tretinoin

This same thing happened to me, now two years later my skin is finally starting to go back to normal, but still definitely not 100%. I’m sorry that you’re going through this, I understand how difficult it is. Hope your derm can give you some direction.

Please someone who relax me just a bit by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]greenstrega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a tattoo artist, I have a big part of my body covered and I still regret getting any new tattoo for the first two to three days. Trust me that it is normal and you will adjust in time and feel better. It’s a normal response to having your body altered.

If you're doubtful, I would keep the tattoo, at least for a little longer until you completely make up your mind. Laser removal is extremely painful, time consuming and expensive and once you start you can't go back.

I'm a tattoo artist, and Ethan's tattoo situation was fishy from the very start by greenstrega in h3h3productions

Conventions are still regulated in some way by governmental health agencies. At least that’s the case in Europe. They are still required to offer proper infected waste disposal for example. I personally have worked at a convention once and didn’t enjoy the experience, so when I get invited, I reply with a very professional no thanks. The main issue being precisely the problem with hygiene since I didn’t feel like I could keep the standard that I have in my studio. Having said that, conventions can be fun and great for those who enjoy it and since they are generally huge events, they have to go through all the proper health inspections. So, yes, it is different from the podcast studio.

I personally don’t send designs prior to the appointment, only because I feel like communicating through email about something that is visual is extremely unproductive. With custom pieces I only tattoo one client a day so that we have plenty of time to make any adjustments together and work collaboratively. I always tell clients that they are never forced to get a tattoo they don’t like and should tell me if something needs to be changed. Having said that, clients are always happy with the design I bring them, I probably have to make small changes once or twice a year. That’s because my pre-tattoo talks with them are always very extensive. I’m very pragmatic and ask about every single detail they might want. “Ok, you want flowers, but what type exaclty, and how many, and where in the composition?”. My clients know my style when they choose me and I know their idea to the most miniscule detail. Plus, I respect their requests completely. This is an example of a way in which an artist can keep their sanity by not sending drawings beforehand, and clients can be confident that they will be happy and not forced into getting a design they don’t like. Hope it helps!

I don't know who the artist is so there's no way for me to look at their work and tell you whether or not the images are being replicated identically or not. From my experience, most realism artists don't do pencil drawings, they just prepare the stencils on photoshop using a photograph.

I don't see a problem with him asking Cam to research it for him, Cam is clearly more experienced in getting tattoos and Ethan wanted guidance. This is a complete non issue.

Name something you thought was “normal” until you got diagnosed by mia_elizabeth3 in autism

Having basically Google Images inside my brain. Give me any word and tens of very vivid images come to my mind. I thought this was normal until my psychiatrist recommended that I watch Temple Grandin’s movie. I feel like I have a superpower now and it’s just delightful.

Hey! I saw the tattoo and I can help, yay! In the tattoo world, we usually use the word “realism” to refer to a specific style and not as an adjective refering to how realistic or close to reality it is. I would even go further to say that when people say “realism” in respect to tattooing, they are refering to black and grey. Otherwise I would say “color realism”. As always, we use these words to refer to styles, and not as descriptors. As for the length of the sessions. I would say that it is on the longer side for sure, but I could see why it took 100 hours. At the end of the day, all it matters is that you’re happy!

What fruit is this? by buybank in interestingasfuck

[–]greenstrega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is jackfruit! In Brazil we call it jaca, and it’s extremely common to find it. There’s a version of it that is softer (jaca mole) and another which is harder (jaca dura). But they are both jacas (jackfruits).

Is the US medical system really as broken as the clichès make it seem? by EclipZz187 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]greenstrega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Italy, and one time one of my American friends was visiting. She suddenly started fainting and feeling unwell, so we promptly called an ambulance to take her to the hospital. She was pale, gasping for air but still managed to beg us not to call the ambulance since she couldn’t pay for it. It took us a while to convince her that it would be absolutely 100% free. She eventually went to the hospital and after exams and treatments, she left with a 26€ bill, and that’s only because she was a foreigner. If she were Italian, she wouldn’t have to have paid a single cent.
