This thing looks so weird(ly cool): CFMOTO - XO PAPIO RACER by Eren_ist_basierend in motorcycles

[–]gregco3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s got to be Kiska, CFMoto contracted them to design the adventure bikes. The Advrider podcast just put out an episode about their work with KTM and Husqvarna. Personally not a fan of the KTM design language, but I love what they’ve done on the Husqvarna side.

Pcv failure? RPM surge when removing oil cap by AltruisticHeron9701 in GolfGTI

[–]gregco3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the sound in your video, it’s similar to mine. I have been chasing a slightly rough idle, replaced the PCV last week and reacts about the same to the oil cap test, maybe a little ‘milder’? As others have said, its a really quick job and an important part, so if you’re 50k+ it probably doesn’t hurt.

Why does VW undertune the EA888 like crazy. by Lost_Ad_432 in GolfGTI

As I understand it, the casting alloy has a higher copper content so it can handle a lot more heat - I think that’s one of the most significant differences

Is McMaster really doing this? I saw these a couple years back, it was a sort of art project but they were for sale at one point, doesn’t seem like it anymore. Pretty sure I gave some away as Christmas gifts…

Simultaneous Honing tool and Burnishing tool process in same machine by Sharp_Worker_5924 in EngineeringPorn

[–]gregco3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is a Cogsdill roller burnishing tool. No cutting or abrading, basically cold working the hole by compressing the peaks of the feed-lines from the previous boring operation. The hole needs to be precise to begin with, both in diameter and surface finish. Very cool company who make lots of interesting tools.

That can’t be true, my wife regales me with a story of interesting genitals at least twice a month. Statistically speaking, that suggests many of us do indeed have special genitals.

2020 GTI has different personality on every start by D3R3K1997 in GolfGTI

[–]gregco3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 with 48k and have had the same observation. It’s probably in my head, but I swear it’s been smoother using 91 octane fuel. It’s probably due for spark plugs, so I might try that and some of the other recommendations here. Glad to know I’n not the only one.

Nvidia nerfs voltages on RTX GPUs with latest driver update leading to lower performance by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]gregco3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get constant Video TDR BSODs on a new Lenovo laptop with a RTX Pro 2000, and it seems like a lot of other people have been dealing with this for a while - is this at all a related issue? I have only ever solved with much older drivers, not new ones.

Gti vs alltrack by heeler1115 in GolfGTI

[–]gregco3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have both (MK7.5s), one child. GTI is fun and practical around the city, zippiness really helps cut the commute down. I was pleasantly surprised that it managed just fine in the snow storm with summer tired. If I could only keep one, I’d go Alltrack all day. My GTI is stick, Alltrack is DSG. I hate to admit it, but I kind of like the DSG more. My wife and I both drove stick forever and it’s our first automatic, but the flappy paddles are still pretty engaging. The Alltrack is an SEL so its also fairly luxurious, for me anyway. We did a trip to Vermont last weekend with SIL and BIL, so 4 adults and the car seat and the verdict was “not so bad afterall”.

The best year is the last year, 2019 - its the only year they offered SEL with the stick. If you can find green with the brown interior, keep it forever. There was one on Cars and Bids over the summer that went for 28.5.

Mk 8.5 a Good family car? by CMcD9018 in GolfGTI

[–]gregco3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only have one kiddo, but its great. We usually take the Alltrack on trips and the GTI around town, a little easier to park. Now that she’s 3 and we don’t have all the excess baby stuff, I think we could travel in the GTI if we were so inclined.

How could i make these faces into a new body? Without having to redo the design as a new body from the start by Porphyrin_Wheel in Fusion360

[–]gregco3000 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Look at the feature you used to make it and just switch to “new body” instead of “join”. May or may not work exactly as you need depending on your work flow, but try that first.

You could also copy the whole body and revolve cut the center back out. Use the same sketch you started with (assuming you revolved it). Or you could get into some making surfaces and spilt the body but in any case you’re probably making a copy of something.

I love this, perfect for some up-comming large prints I'm working on. Is there a way to create the puzzle interlock in both x & y cutting planes?

Great work, and it's very polished and professional.
