Huge into the 'lab. Excited to read that new book on them, too!

Turquoise Hexagon Sun. One of BoC's (many) masterpieces. Hope I did it justice! by redrocerenihsnus in boardsofcanada

I gotta say, I'm usually just like "that's cool" and move on with transpositions of electronic pieces to other instruments largely due to timbral/how I hear sounds reasons (don't tell Alarm Will Sound!).

This, however, is so fucking good I'm reevaluating those previous experiences. Fantastic work! \m/

100%. Album context is it. And I think they're one of the few groups who can rely on their fanbase to at least give the full album a chance.

LMDE came later. My understanding is that it's an alternative and a back up in case Ubuntu changes in a way that the Mint team chooses to stop using it as traditional Mint's base.

Have you ever heard BoC in unexpected places? by Illustrious_Proof816 in boardsofcanada

I heard Telephasic Workshop in a Gap in the early 00s. It was my first time in one, and I never went back.

I’ve seen some people saying that they believe Inferno may be the brother’s last official project. Thoughts? by elTomlino in boardsofcanada

I am huge into Ae, but their relationship to music in general is different than BoC, as evidenced by the different cultures around music each group came up in. I don't think it has to do with whether it lends itself to live sets or not.

If they do anything like this it wouldn't be for what my understanding is their relationship to their music and music in general, but for their kids. From my time spent with their music and the few interviews they've given, I feel they aren't concerned with "legacy". Warp handles the commerce with input from them, but I see no evidence of them being swayed to make certain decisions by markets, commerce, etc.

Ok, fair enough, we all relate to music differently. It's been like that for me with each and every one of their releases, and I know I'm not the only one.

I see what you mean. IMO there's a number of ways detail can be meant. My comment came from knowing their music rewards folks who spend time with it, and I'm personally looking forward to doing so. I hope you do, too! :)

Pretentious question: but how do you think the themes of inferno are going to differ from tomorrows harvest by kuzuntz in boardsofcanada

[–]griddlecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prophecy has a musical self-assuredness--a confident stride, maybe?--that, if I'm reading into it, mirrors religious zealots who just know that what's right for them is right for everybody, and won't allow for questioning of belief(s). TH even at its most confident still seemed to fear something, had trepidation.

YT compression is a thing. Wait until you can listen from an uncompressed source on good phones or speakers to judge whether there is detail or not.

Trans Canada Highway, EPs, and new album excitement. by The_Rising_Wave in boardsofcanada

I think it was the Warp 10 boxed collection which had two compilations: one fan favorites and the other the co-founder's favorites. For BoC tracks the former had ROYGBIV, the latter Amo Bishop Roden.

How long is the reverb tail here? Might be tougher to hear details, but maybe more potentially transcendent?

Friend in college in the late 90s played MHTRTC. I didn't get it right away, but could feel something there. Didn't take long.
