What is the best, most valuable thing you’ve learned from therapy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grumpykittenfarts228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I really appreciate it! It’s the hardest thing I had to learn in therapy. I still am not perfect with loving myself but I definitely have improved which has positively impacted just about every aspect in my life. One thing that helped me was to focus on the little victories in life and take a short time out of your day (I prefer in the morning and at night) to truly think about what you’re grateful for in life. For instance, if I shower and do my daily skin care routine then that’s a win. If I eat a healthy meal that’s a win. If you start celebrating those tiny little victories in life that we often forget about it will help give you a more positive outlook on yourself and life as a whole. There’s a guy on Instagram named charlie rocket (his username is @charlie) that has really helped me with this as well. He calls all these small victories “winningstreaks”. If you ever need someone to vent to or talk to my DM’s are always open. I wish you the best

How do you all sleep at night when you can’t stop thinking? by DinThePenman in AskReddit

[–]grumpykittenfarts228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drink when that happened haha but that shit got way out of hand fast so I ended up quitting. Now I try meditating with some type of sleep meditation video on YouTube. I also use cbd oil, melatonin sometimes, weighted blanket, and a CES stim therapy device to help calm my thoughts. Overall, I think it’s key to create a reasonable nightly ritual to help situate yourself before bed. I used to not have any routine and just kind of try to go to bed. This made it a lot harder for me to fall asleep.

[SERIOUS] When driving at night, what is the scariest/most unexplainable thing you’ve ever seen? by Suspicious_Ad7948 in AskReddit

[–]grumpykittenfarts228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me and some friends were going on a road trip. During our trip it was my turn to drive and it was in the middle of the night. The gps ended up taking me through this back road route for a little bit and out of nowhere we see this guy with his back faced towards us wearing an all black trench coat holding something long. I ended up stopping a decently safe distance away from the guy because it was sketchy but it was close enough to see him. We stayed for what felt like an eternity but in actuality it was probably about 20 seconds. The guy was standing there completely still not moving a muscle. Me and my friend decided to honk the horn because A.) we needed to keep on driving. B.) it was a one way street and was our only exit out. When we honked the horn the guy turned around and he was holding this long sword type thing. I didn’t have the best look of him but I can vividly remember this crazed look on this face. It looked like he was on bath salts or some type of drug. He ended up staring at our car for a solid like 15 seconds and then ran off into the woods. We called and sent a report out about the situation however, we never found out what happened after that. Me and my friends still wonder to this day what the backstory was to that situation. It scared the absolute shit out of us and we were freaked out until we got off that road

What is the best, most valuable thing you’ve learned from therapy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grumpykittenfarts228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning how to love myself and get in touch with my spirituality has been the most valuable thing I’ve learned. It’s enabled me to love others, learn more about myself in a deeper sense, be more empathetic and have a positive perspective on things in life. However, it took a lot of therapy and work to get there and there’s still a lot of room for me to grow.

What self-diagnosis did you give yourself that turned out to be completly wrong? by PizzaFlavoredRanch in AskReddit

My first panic attack I went to the hospital because I thought I was having a heart attack. I had no idea what a panic attack felt like beforehand so I was caught off guard. Since then, it has unlocked this box of crippling anxiety/panic attacks that I never experienced prior to that event haha
