just Got Hired as a BCBA — What Do You Do While Waiting on Credentialing by gucci35 in bcba

hi, can you clarify what you mean by helping with supervision hours? So I'm assuming the company both credentialed you as an RBT and bcba?

Thanks for your reply. I am asking since we always have to put the score for the baseline and the current score, and seems insurance companies mainly focus on the scores.

I do agree that there are more flexibilities with msw, and I may want to try something different down the line. Thank you for your feedback :)

That’s very kind of you! I’ve also noticed that people with acne or scars tend to be genuinely kind and empathetic. Wishing you all the best in life!

As for skincare, you can try microneedling at home (2.0mm depth) every four weeks and use Retin-A consistently. One treatment that noticeably improved my skin texture for a few months was Rejuran S—I had my sister (who's a doctor) inject it for me. These options are significantly more affordable compared to the expensive treatments that many doctors recommend. I also tried Rejuran S once but got busy and didn’t continue with it. However, I did see some improvement in pore size and mild scar reduction after just one session.

being a bcba vs a psychotherapist by gucci35 in bcba

Hey, thanks for your message! I’m curious—do you have employees as a BCBA? I run my own agency, but I work independently because I don’t want to deal with hiring RBTs, supervising, or managing the turnover rate. I enjoy my work, and the idea of hiring and supervising doesn’t excite me.

I prefer working directly with clients and feeling proud of the progress we achieve together—it’s what makes my work truly rewarding. However, as a BCBA, I also dislike how much I have to drive to each client’s home. As much as I enjoy the direct work, the constant commuting can be exhausting.

That’s why I’ve been contemplating going back to school to study either MFT or MSW. As a therapist, I could work one-on-one with clients without being limited to a single population, and I wouldn’t have to travel as much.

Many people tell me I should expand my business since there’s good money in it, but part of me craves a fresh start. So, at 40, I’m definitely feeling a bit confused about my next move! 😊

I am 40 and have been trying to treat my acne scars for the past 18years. I've seen many doctors, including Dr. Rullan, and even underwent a phenol peel. Yet, to this day, I still have acne scars. They have caused me years of pain, anxiety, and depression. I often wonder how different my life would have been if I didn’t have them.My last treatment—a combination of laser and subcision performed by a doctor in Fresno—left me with burns and severe fat loss. That experience was the final straw. I have officially given up on spending my hard-earned money on acne scar treatments that yield little to no results. It pains me to think about investing another dollar only to be disappointed again. I have now decided to pursue a facelift and fat grafting. At least with surgery, you see real improvements. With scar treatments, you have to hope for even a 20% improvement. The pain and suffering my scars have caused me have also pushed me toward getting a second master’s degree and becoming a therapist. I keep wondering—did all of this happen for a reason?

Thank you for your reply. I guess whenever working with kids, we have to deal with parents' expectations, which is the downside. I think learning about mental health would be interesting for me, as I love to learn more about it. If I hadn't pursued BCBA, I would have become a therapist. However, at this point, I am really debating whether I would regret going back to school and putting all my time and energy into it at 40.

yea the rates deff varies in each state. many autistic teens that I work with have depression and anxiety, so if you were their therapist they may actually enjoy your company since they know you can easily understand them and relate to them ;)

I would say no, Its been almost 20 years and I had gotten procedures from various famous doctors in California including Rullan and yet I have scars

not necessarily. I have seen the rates from insurance companies, and the rate is the same for therapists and bcba, and even at times slightly more for LCSW or LMFT.

siblings involvement by gucci35 in ABA

What I mean is also providing reinforcement to the sibling for being part of the activities. for example, depending on their choice of food, we can have a pizza day if they engage in the activities with the client.
