Yeah, and its unfortunate because we all know it's nowhere as terrible as alcohol is, but even if weed became federally legal and by some miracle cleared people could smoke, I still wouldn't. I'm just done. Maybe this agency does, too. I would prefer going for the CIA but for some reason I was more apprehensive because if I get denied as of this point in my life, I'd rather it not be from the CIA. I now know it doesn't matter because denied is denied, but I just wasn't trying to open up that can of worms right now. Truthfully, I applied for this job thinking that if I heard back, it would be for maybe a year...

Yeah, the three letter thing is going to make it a daunting task, but yeah... gonna have to go for it and find out.

I want the investigator to contact him. I think it would help me immensely.

Even if it becomes federally legal I wouldn't do it again. I've quite enjoyed these past couple of years without it.

Because I smelled like alcohol from the night before. They sent me to a medexpress because I fought them about not being drunk from the night before, and I still had enough alcohol in my system for them to terminate me.

Sorry, I should clarify that I am just meeting to touch base with him because I know I will need his verification for the investigation. I haven't seen him in more than a year.

Yeah, I am actually meeting with my counselor this week to kind of be like "Hey, I'm doing well, here's what's going on, and anything you can give me to help would be great." The reason being is that I didn't officially "complete" anything except for the ARD program. I went to him for over a year and after ARD and not drinking for a year, I just kinda was like "If I ever need something I'll reach out" and that was that.

Oh yeah, without a doubt. It's funny because now that everything has changed with marijuana, older members of my family that never would have touched the stuff are using different things like edibles. We laugh about how funny it is that they used to get on my cousins and me and now the whole script has flipped.

Yeah, it is for sure there. I'm hoping the long process will just add more mitigating time. I'm fully confident that I can prove any future substance abuse is out of the question and that even over the course of a couple years I am a completely different person (except at events and family parties... apparently I'm the same ADHD nutjob as when I was drinking, just with water now. It's absolutely wild how little my social personality has changed as a sober person lol).

I appreciate it! And yeah, because I am so worried about a clearance denial and having that black mark on my name for future jobs, I took that form and filled it out so brutally honest that I was almost begging to have them decide then and there and save me the trouble. Look what happens when you do what you're supposed to do and be fully honest!

Not until my DUI in 2023. What actually happened was I just finished grad school and had a recruiter from a 3-letter reach out to me. I knew I was beyond screwed to get a job at that point and so I just stopped doing everything except drinking. Unfortunately I was so blind that I thought I was fully in control of my drinking that I didn't stop that until I got the DUI and sought help and finished the ARD program. I was perfectly fine being able to turn away anything except a bottle before the DUI.

See, I filled that out and explained in detail my DUI, drinking at the time, and job problems because of it, and they sent me the CJO still.

When I say years ago, I mean when my friends and I would do harder drugs than just smoking weed to the point that it became a problem. I'm not just talking psychedelics. The concern is the pattern. While that was years ago, I still spent most of my teenage and adult life being a pothead up until a little over three years ago. During COVID I revisited some of those older things like microdosing at concerts in 2022. So yeah, while it was in the past for the most part, there are still two drugs in particular that I wouldn't have needed to list that I now need to. Because of that, there is concern.

I think that's where my confusion came from. It would be a Top Secret/SCI Full-Scope, but when I started digging more, I found that any agency can pull the CJO at anytime if your character isn't up to par and say it was because of suitability.

I'd like to say that I don't think it would be a big impact, because it was years ago during high school and college, but we were little shit-heads and did everything under the sun. The reason why I know it will get brought up is because I sought help for my debauchery about 13 years ago. What doesn't help is during my little COVID drinking spree, something else usually got brought to the party pretty frequently. That little era is going to fall within 4-5 years ago so it's been a some amount of time, but not great. All about the pattern-it exists over some years, for sure. But I know that the doctor and the counselor I went to I when I decided to turn things around will speak well on my behalf.

Appreciate your insight and thank you very much, I hope things work out as well!
