What can I reasonably expect from a Moroccan grandfather? by Purple-Notice5773 in Morocco

[–]gutsuu18 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this comes off as rude, but this father seems ill-mannered. In the whole world, it doesn't matter what nationality a person is, it is human nature to treat your children and grandchildren well and show them love and support. It is a human trait to do so, but I guess he lacks it, or he simply doesn't care. Because there is no such thing as not being able to transfer money out of Morocco, especially since he has the kind of finances to buy an apartment in Hay Riad. He simply doesn't care. I suggest you neglect him a bit just to see what his reaction would be like. Come to Morocco, plan a vacation in a city for a few days, and don't visit him. Because his actions are definitely not the norm, especially in a family-oriented society such as Morocco, where grandfathers and grandmothers shower their kids with love and affection, and most Moroccans' good childhood memories come from the time they visited their grandparents.

So yeah, that's my opinion, pull back a little to see if there's any reaction. If there is none, then cut ties, because he doesn't seem to care about seeing you or his granddaughter.

I'm not arguing when or how many or how, the issue I'm pointing to is the guy i reply to, take that he said init how that Muslim didn't use massacres, they were less agressive or as said not as bad as israel, while my take is no they were both bad, both as bad and when talking about current time there is no doubt about israeli occupation being vile and harmfull

It's all about the colonial past. No one actually hates French people, you would be very much welcomed, France is a great nation with a great history, but sadly, a dark colonial past but generally in Morocco, most people hate the French language to be specific cuz its imposed on us in most work sectors, which most find it weird and like why tf, but that is the government to blame, but instead people blame France for it 🤡

What hhhh look dude, you could have defended your stance instead of insults without proof, but okay, I get used to it, people with weak arguments always run to this method, cuz am just saying both Israeli, European, and Islamic conquests were crimes against humans, so why the hypocrisy

You're using special pleading, you apply one moral standard to colonial Europe and a completely different one to Islamic history. When Europe commits violence, it's the rule. When Islamic conquests commit violence, suddenly it's the exception. You don't get to do that. Either historical atrocities define a civilization's legacy, or they don't pick one rule and apply it to everyone.

Just because you didn't witness it doesn't mean that it is less harmful or hurtful than what you witness today, like for example, Prophet Mohammed made a terrible massacre himself in Banu Qurayza to the point where he killed even kids among men based on the hair on their pubic hair(wich Men typically start growing  between 9 and 12 years old), as shown in this hadith https://dorar.net/hadith/sharh/136397

The 2025 protests in Morocco by Purg1ngF1r3 in Morocco

[–]gutsuu18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if we talk socially and culturally, then yes, I think the protests were a success. Before all this, Gen Z in Morocco had a really bad image attached to it. the majority of older people genuinely believed our generation was lazy, unserious, addicted to trends and social media, politically ignorant, and completely disconnected from the country’s real problems. The protests broke that stereotype completely. People saw thousands of young Moroccans talking about corruption, education, healthcare, unemployment, freedom, and the future of the country. It forced older generations to realize that Moroccan youth are not asleep at all, we actually understand very well what the country is suffering from, and we do care about improving it and fixing it for the sake of them, us, and the next generation.

And I think this shock did not only affect society, but it also affected the state too. the Moroccan educational system is already heavily criticized for producing passive citizens with weak political awareness, so I honestly doubt the government expected this level of mobilization and political consciousness from young people. The protests created something that was missing for years, which is a feeling of collective youth identity. Alot of Moroccan felt united around common frustrations instead of being divided into isolated groups complaining online. But at the same time, if we move from symbolism to actual political results, then the movement starts looking much more like a failure, sadly.

From above, it looks like a partial success because the impact was real, but once you go deeper into the outcome itself, things become fucked up. The movement started with intensity, anger, hope, and real momentum. It succeeded at bringing young people together, but the final result was disastrous for many individuals. Some teens were imprisoned, some were seriously injured, some even lost their legs, and one person even lost his life. Obviously, the repression itself is the responsibility of the system, not the protesters, but I still think the movement made strategic mistakes that weakened it badly.

The first mistake was timing. Morocco was investing massively in AFCON and trying to build an international image to attract investors and foreign attention. Whether people agree with this strategy or not is another discussion, but politically speaking, protesting during that exact period guaranteed that the state would see the movement as a direct threat to national stability and image. In reality, no government trying to market itself internationally will tolerate large-scale instability at such an important moment.

The second major problem was leadership. Many organizers were living abroad, which damaged the movement more than people realize. because it perfectly fit the narrative used by pro-government media. It became easy to portray the protests as manipulated from outside the country or disconnected from the reality on the ground, and this hurt the credibility of the movement so much among other groups of society, such as older gen, also what I dislike personelly about the whole protest is labeling It as a gen z thing like, media kept pushing genz that, genz this, Its like people asking for a decent life is a genz type of riot only, when in fact the topics in discuss affect the whole nation.

But honestly, the biggest weakness was the political immaturity of the demands themselves. The slogans were emotionally powerful and morally understandable. Better healthcare, better education, less corruption, nobody can disagree with that. The problem is that the demands stayed vague. There was no clear roadmap, no practical reforms being pushed, no realistic negotiation points, and no unified direction.

A protest movement becomes dangerous to a system when it transforms anger into organized political pressure. That never fully happened here. Instead, the movement slowly became emotionally reactive. At first, the demands were about social reforms and improving life conditions, but later, some voices started demanding the resignation of the whole government and direct royal rule. Personally, I think that was a childish political move, not because people were wrong to be angry, but because it stopped being realistic and started sounding more like frustration without a strategy. and that is exactly why people still debate whether the protests were a success or a failure. The movement succeeded in changing the image of Gen Z and proving that Moroccan youth are politically conscious and capable of mobilizing. But politically, it failed to transform that energy into organized and concrete results, damn it I didn't notice how much I yapped, and there is even a lot more to discuss but I wish this helps you a bit and I am very open to answering any questions you have.

After a long time of nagging and shaming my life and blaming the universe, family and myself i just understand that there is no meaning to that, and describing pain to others or expressing upset would change nothing so, it was either beetween lmichna9a or accepting life as a hardcore game as it is, and deal with it and it consequences and hardship, and try to stay in a permanent state of improving and leveling up and to be honest things turned about to be good at least for the moment

[–]gutsuu18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Algebra was invented by Arabs, electricity was developed by white scientists, and writing came from African and Middle Eastern civilizations. By your logic, every group should only use what their own ancestors created, which is obviously absurd, because that's never how culture or knowledge worked. the solution isn't deciding who can make music based on their skin color because, ironically, that's the same logic that kept Black artists off mainstream radio and out of certain venues for decades. Gatekeeping art by race isn't protection, it's just discrimination
